He’s getting so much online hate that he can’t even enjoy his MVP.

    .
Yeah, lots of dickhead Judge haters

I guess no one has mentioned that Boston signed Chapman to be the closer.

I watched Chapman when he debuted with the Reds. Incredible talent.

Best pitch he ever made was to Rajai Davis in the bottom of the 8th in Game 7 of the '16 World Series.

Yeah, he really went from phenom to disliked character in relatively quick order. Being an abuser will do that I guess.

Not a NY sports fan at all, no dog in this fight, but seems silly to proclaim this already. The 2023 Mets were way over everybody else in salary and completely fell apart. The Angels paid through the nose for Rendon and Trout and had Ohtani for years, and never went anywhere. The Mets tying up 20% of their luxury threshhold on a single player (that failed to move the needle for the Yanks in 2024) seems like a heavy overpay.

Ohtani was worth the massive contract because of the marketability of him and the Dodgers in Japan, but paying more for Soto, who is admittedly a generational talent, but has a significantly lower market return, seems risky.

It was a joke, because the Yankees are dumb.

Soto saw this and was like, yeah, I'm out.

In feel good news, Cy Young winner Shane Beiber has opted to return to CLE on a deal that was considerably less than what other teams were apparently offering.

yeah idk. as long as they don’t sign pete alonso im ok with it.

the deal is over 800M if it goes to term. it won’t bring in a lucrative market like the japanese.

great ballplayer, and i loved watching him hit. but if 750 isn’t enough wygd?

judge turned down an extra 65 from the Padres btw and i’m excited to see him back in right.

all they have to do now is find a 1b/3b/of/ a
starting pitcher and a reliever and they’re back in it!

The length and max amount of Soto's deal is patently absurd.

I'm hard pressed to think of more than one hand's worth of long term (10+) year deals that worked out well for the team. They always work out well for the player, and more power to them if they can get it, but hey.

Votto, Trout (could argue he belongs on the other side of this list), Jose (although his is a 7 year deal on top of the first 4 years so, I'm counting it), Ohtani (calling it good as of right now with no further evidence necessary), Harper?, Judge?...

The list of guys who got old and tired while still in the middle/latter half of their long term deals is... well, long. The Reds are still paying Ken Griffey Jr. Rendon, Strasburg, Miggy?

For sure. Ohtani has paid for his contract and brought a ring to the Dodgers, so it doesn't matter what he does for now. Altuve brought a long run of success and a couple rings. Harper is a steal by today's standards, and has been nothing but clutch in the biggest Philly moments of the century.

The rest of them went to bad orgs, honestly, who thought paying one player would fix their broken ass teams.

If Soto is the piece that gets the Mets a championship he'll be worth it. If the Mets continue to Mets, then he'll be considered a bust regardless of how he plays.

this is it right here. this is a good team that wants to be a great team and is willing to spend the money to get there. if Soto brings them a chip, it's all good. If the Mets start Metsing, well, this will be a very Metsable moment.

and hey, it's not my money.

I don't think the Mets are done.
