How do you think Mike Trout feels right now? He's still stuck on that garbage franchise and Shohei leaves and instantly wins a title.
Mike Trout is just going to be one of the many HoF guys without a ring and for his sake I hope he's comfortable with that.

The fact that the Angels of Anaheim of Orange County and Los Angeles couldn't win shit with both Trout and Shohei goes to show you how poorly run that organization must be.

Reflecting on this series I wonder if changes are coming for the Yankees approach to winning titles? Yes, that lineup is scary as hell, but it's not Babe Ruth and co. out there and teams all year were able to navigate it. The all-in approach on the long ball while overlooking defense, baserunning and lack of hustle if the ball isn't leaving the yard (looking at you Jazz Chisholm Jr.) is what jumped out to me during this postseason run for them. I think that's a coaching issue instead of a front office issue; we'll see if Boone has to answer for that.
I still call it The Jake.

Boone may be the worst manager in baseball. I don't see much NL, especially the west coast teams but he has to be the worst in the AL for sure.

Boone is the absolute worst. The Yankees are not serious about winning the world series while they have him as a manager.

In other news, it looks like all Dodgers fans should be rounded up and locked up until we can figure out what is going on.

It's probably not healthy for a 40 year old to be as happy about this as I am, but I am still fucking stoked on this team. Such a fun season. My wife and coworkers are done listening so here is a few thoughts I have to get out.

    - Doc just punched his ticket to Cooperstown and shut the haters down forever.
    - 3 titles for Mookie makes him a first ballot guy now, and he is 100% going in with a Dodgers hat.
    - 2 titles and that granny makes Freddie a first ballot guy.
    - Cole not covering the bag will be mentioned by every coach from little league to the big leagues when teams do their PFP work in the future.
    - Shohei and Yamamoto already earned their contracts.
    - Praise the lord that I never have to hear about a "Mickey Mouse Title" again.
    - Kershaw is now a 2X World Series champion, and if you disagree you can argue with a wall.
    - In the last 8 years the Dodgers have 7 division titles, 4 WS appearances, and 2 rings. A very nice start to a 15 year dynasty.
    - The Dodgers will be significantly better next year.
    - Walker Fuckin' Buehler needs to be a Dodger for life.
    - The amount of pressure on Judge next October will be absurd.
    - When the Dodgers sign Soto and Sasaki this winter the collective meltdown from MLB fans will be delicious.
    - And as always, fuck the giants (and the little brother padres).

We should round up the Mets fans too, just to be sure.

happy for you, alias. i really have no beef with the dodgers. last year i really wanted yamasoto. they got half and needed another pitcher.

if soto walks though the yanks will look super cheap. i saw a chart yesterday that estimates they spend in the bottom third as a percentage of revenue and the dodgers were off hand top 5? don’t quote me on that but i’ll try to find it.

honestly though, where would the dodgers play soto? he’s not a particularly good fielder and dh is tied up. and of course, the guy wants to field. move mookie to center? anyway, it makes me more worried about the mets than la.

soto and lindor would really even out the nl east.

    anyway.

You'd always find a spot for a guy like Soto, but I was mainly joking about that. I would love it, but I would say it has about a 5% chance of happening. He's probably looking at $500 million and I can't see the Dodgers paying it with the contracts they already have. But hypothetically I would not cry one bit about Teo in left, Mookie in center, and Soto in right. Not exactly top notch defense, but your outfield would have an average OPS+ of like 160.

Any by the way, I'd love a rematch next season. I love talking shit on the Yankees, but I always admire teams actually care about winning and try every year.

Dodger fans at last night’s game were mocking the Yankee roll call and chanting “next year Dodger” at Soto

I really like Freddy but the glazing over his ankle injury was nonstop during the series. Like, the guy had clearly healed up. The double play he beat out was supposedly his fastest sprint speed down the line in over a year. It wasn’t kirk gibson but they kept pushing it. Not trying to be a hater because he’s a class act and a likely hall of famer but cmon.

the story about the dodgers is that they are smart and built and amazing supporting cast around superstars like a mini all star team but they still play hard and have an accountability some big name east coast teams can only dream about. at least one i can think of off hand anyway.

As opposed to the very even-handed coverage they gave Judge and Soto and Ohtani?

    Or Betts!

Talking about what people are doing / have done on the field just doesn’t bother me the same way as making up dumb storylines I guess.

I mean, did they mention that Rizzo has been playing with a concussion the last two years! It’s more obvious than the ankle injury.

Without googling, who can tell me who the career active leader is in hits?
    RBIs?
    Runs?
    Total bases?
    Doubles?
    Intentional walks?

I was pretty surprised at the answers.

I knew all of them but intentional walks, that one surprised me. I always knew he was great, but until I started watching him every day I never really appreciate just how great he is. His hitting approach is what every young player should try to emulate.

I know the leader amongst active position players in World Series Rings is Markus Lynn "Mookie" Betts with 3

Dodgers scouting report on the Yankees is one of the most brutal takedowns you’ll ever read.

^ That Joel Sherman piece in the NYPost is actually pretty good reporting and framing. He made it pretty clear to the average person tuning in just for the playoffs how it wasn’t just that 5th inning but the entire series.

oh yeah. there was the bad feed to volpe by gleyber. the botched catch by gleyber. the horrendous send of stanton. the weird routes by soto. it goes on and on before you get to judge’s first fkn error of the year. crazy stuff.

Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole opted out of his contract on Saturday. The club can void the opt out by adding one year and $36 million to his existing deal, a decision that must be triggered by Sunday evening.

Don't blame him, Judge gets all the glory despite the Cy Young & then fucks up the deciding game after doing fuck all at the plate all postseason.

    Hope he gets paid.

hey, Cole completely messed up on an infield play too allowing LA to climb back in the game, the yankees as a whole are to blame that game and not going back to LA, that game woulda sworn me off yankees playoff tickets if i were a fan.
