Well, you wound up here, so I wouldn't say it all worked out fine.

    How do you plea?

    Not guilty.

But you were arrested driving a stolen vehicle.

    But it's my car.

    ------

Reminds me of when I told the judge I wasn't going to pay my fine.

I'm not going to pay this.
    Yes you are.
No, I'm not. I'm not going to pay a "Running a stop sign violation" for running a stop sign on my bicycle in my neighborhood.
    Yes, you are.
    No, I'm not. Bye.

The next week I graduated from MSU B-town, moved to Tahoe, and now I have a warrant out for my arrest in MT. What did I learn? That I better not find myself in a situation in MT where I have to show a law officer my driver's license.

Cono gonna be fine... it's his car. ;-)

Doesn't that not matter if the other person is at fault?

You need rental coverage for your OWN insurance to provide it, but the liability coverage on the other person's car is supposed to make you whole. That includes fixing your car and providing comparable transportation until they can do so.

Now...they may try to weasel out of it or give you an economy car, but if you push back you should be able to get an adequate rental.

Only way out is if you are at their policy limits (which it sounds like isn't the case with some bumper damage on a WRX) or they are disputing fault (which they don't appear to be).

Every state has different laws, but usually the concept is that you can choose what coverage you want for yourself (no collision, no rental, etc.), but you are liable for ALL of the damage you cause to others, so your liability coverage has to pay for things that are outside of the coverage you chose for yourself.

Looks like other person's fault: So some ahole rear ended my wrx 2 months ago. Clearly at fault, her insurance is paying, and they sent me to a chain of body shops 6 weeks ago.

I'd try the talk with the insurance company and let them know you need a "like car" as it wasn't your fault.

I am working on baking a file with a cake inside. And not to worry CE, I m sure if you ask him, Biden will offer you a pardon. Or Trump can sell you one.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I have never previously regretted not seeking a career in law enforcement.

But repeatedly tasing CE would be a career highlight to take to the grave.

What kind of dipshit allows someone else's insurance to dictate where your car gets repaired?

This whole thread is like some epic AI exercise. Wtf was that shit about Fernie and root canals? Why would anyone live in St Louis if skiing is even remotely important to them? Or like, at all, ever? And if you had to for some reason, why would you drive a WRX there? I mean, even DD got himself something more reasonable for his Midwestern city living.
    No longer stuck.

It was settled peacefully, I almost went, but I’m not 100% my ex would remember all those Hawaii vacations and bail me out. Turns out a tech there has an old hatch back, and explained the madness.

I’ll be hitting fernie on time! blue top, white helmet, declivity 102, waitin for rope drops all week!

Now that made me laugh. Thank you.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I have never previously regretted not seeking a career in dentistry.

But repeatedly performing root canals on CE would be a career highlight to take to the grave.
