Everyone loves unsolicited advice so here's mine - get rid of all these initials for ski names and use real words so people can easily remember what ski is what. Example - instead of calling a ski a SE, call it Slash Edition. Or any word works.

I was in the same camp and was coming from a 1.5x supergoat.
What impressed me was the ability to be playful at any speed, with my super goats you have to be going Mach Schnell for them to come alive and at lower speeds are pretty dang planky.

I think 3 “lines”, starting with ski style:
FL( Fall Line [traditional mounts, more technical skis] )
FL105, ZF/SE116, RC85 etc - all of these would become FL***
EX ( Experimental [powder shapes that are unique and don’t fit in any bucket)
UT122, FR132 - same ie EX132
PR ( Progressive [forward or progressive mounts, more playful shapes] )
FR110, AM100 - etc
Once inside the line of skis (FL, EX, PR) you would then pick camber profile (if multiple options exist) and flex (if multiple options exist)
3 profiles: RC (Rocker/camber), R (rocker with flat camber), and FR (full, curved rocker.)
Finally, stiffness:
Soft, Standard, Comp. The stiffness would be relative to the ski and classification rather than some sort of an absolute measurement.
So the SE 116 I have which are flat camber with rocker and the standard flex would become:
FL116 R Standard
The ZF 116 would become:
FL116 RC Comp
The RC95 would become:
FL95 CR Standard
The R110 would become:
PR110 R Standard
The FR110 would become:
PR110 FR Standard
Etc Etc Etc
A buyer can first ask, what type of skier or what is the goal of the design shape of ski I’m buying. Am I after a fall line ski or a more playful ski.
Then if options exist on rocker/camber, they can fine tune the on/off edge feel with a different profile. Do I want more suspension on hard snow or do I want a looser feel on soft snow.
And finally, flex can be ordered softer or stiffer (if the demand exists for this on a certain model) to fine tune to the skiers speed and bodyweight.
All of this could now be laid out nicely in a buyers guide, where a skier/buyer could easily determine what ski they want based on the above criteria without calling or emailing Marshal.
Too confusing
Ahhhh, still can’t get over how damn amazing the SE is!!! Yesterday’s runs are on replay in my head today!!
Never go full retard…
I don’t really think it’s hard to navigate the way it is. Fall Line, Progressive Freeride and Limited Edition is pretty easy to understand. The people interested in these skis are going to be able to find what they want within the three lineups and descriptions of the individual models.

Or we could leave it alone and continue looking at pictures and measurements to pick a ski like the nerds that we are.
Yeah, but it’s not LVS’s nomenclature so it’s sub optimal

It’s literally simpler but precisely calls out the attributes of the ski with the same attributes transferred across multiple lines. [emoji849]
For the record I’m not confused other than I think Marshal offers too many variations on the same ski which is great for consumer choice but unneeded. It’s great for us nerds, but to the next tier of ski buyer it’s confusing, and also probably makes this whole thing less profitable for HL.
I’m sure the dudes I was skiing with yesterday would have gushed just as hard on the FR110 rather than the R110 they were on.
See above

I think FR[emoji637][emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] or R[emoji637][emoji637][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] sounds betterOriginally Posted by TAFKALVS;[emoji[emoji6[emoji640

I'm half way there.
Will be ready to share tomorrow.
Love the dialogue, thanks for all input!
Digging the BG replacement talk. Really after hot pow whores for my typical use case. Bit surprised people are making such a direct replacement- considering the tail width and delta of -18 (tip to tail) vs -10 on SE/ZF 116. Anyone care to add some color here?
So are the FR120STs or the ZF116s the goat killers?
Depends on what attributes of the Billygoat you like and want to accentuate. Don’t rule out the SE in that too.

Hah. Good stuff there.
But I agree on naming. Ski 1112.87.8.0 isn’t inspiring. But your skis are.
Even if you keep FL for example, it’s not hard to put that on the website as Fall Line
It’s a good idea for newbs to understand your lineup as the brand expands

But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason
