Pretty dang windy here in SW OR. Super calm this morning before it started blowing. Love it.
Precip has started, but nothing crazy at the moment. Parked the vehicle away from tree failure zones. Waiting to see how this storm affects the forest infrastructure...
Seems like the wind might finally be dying down a bit. Anxious for the sun to come up so we can survey the damage. Probably shouldn't have put the garbage bin out last night for collection this morning and I know there are a few buckets I forgot and left out around the barn that are probably in the next county by now.
Power stayed on for me (so far) but lots of reports on SM of outagages and fires.
How'd everyone else do?

[emoji639]” of wet snow in Wenatchee, no wind. About what I expected. Looks like King and Snohomish counties took the brunt of the wind last night.

Holy shit! According to the pse map there is basically no power between lake Washington and the cascade crest. https://www.pse.com/en/outage/outage-map
I am out but am Seattle City Light which is in better shape than PSE.

Well, lost power at 6:30pm last night and listened to wind nail the neighborhood all night.
Roads in southern Issaquah are mostly blocked by large, downed trees. Going to be a few days with no power most likely.
Getting out of Tiger Mt. area is down to one road only. Going to be a long couple days...
I enjoyed sitting in my hot tub with a beer in WS last night watching the transformer light show in the distance. I hope those without power get resolution quickly.

Lost power at hotel in Eastgate around 6.30.
It was scary windy when I took the dog out for his last pee at 10.30.
Checked back in on the house this morning no trees down, and obviously no power.
House a couple of blocks away got nailed with a Doug fir hitting the length of its roof ridge, house has collapsed through the middle of its second floor.

Enjoying the beautiful hum of my generator. Last number I saw was close to 500,000 without power.

I lost power for about 12 hours. Luckily it came on a few minutes before my alarm went off this morning. Hopefully this cleared out a lot of debris in the trees that has accumulated since last winter and the next system won't cause as much damage. This one had more of an effect on Seattle proper than I thought it would.
It didn't amount to much around my neighborhood. Just some gusts here and there. In the last 18 years, probably have only lost power three times and for no more than a few hours.
Drove home to NB at 7 pm as the bomb hit. White knuckle all the way on 90 with 45mph gusts from right and then left. Power was out all night but came back at 11 after I bade bacon and eggs on the Coleman 2 burner.
Tuned in to a Seattle talk radio station last night for any updates and they were replaying a show from a dead broadcaster. Civil Defense communications as a function of government responsibility is so 1970.

Similar story up here in the ham. In-town neighborhoods were on the lee side of Lookout Mountain (Galby) and were mostly unscathed. We never even lost power. But on the windward side, several houses were completely destroyed by downed trees.
Mercer Island ain't doing too well. I remember how scary it was when I lived there and these big wind storms would hit. This sounds crazy:

Yikes. I have a friend who's just south of there off East Mercer Way. I could see how that area would be dangerous. Lots of trees and lots of potentially unstable hills. I'm confident this will be the first and only time I'll say I'm glad I don't live there.![]()
Seems to be a lot of people without cell service too. Couple neighbors had to drive elsewhere to use their phones.

Kind of strange but the upper Methow was pounded by snow last night. Over a foot from Winthrop north.
We had one in Sacramento in 2021. 5.9 inches of rain in 24 hours the day of the California Ironman that I was supposed to race. They cancelled the race the morning of and in protest I rode 42 miles during the storm. That was a doosy of a ride.

I was in Bellevue for the Inauguration Day storm in 1993. What a mess. I was stuck in a hotel with no power, no food, and nearly every restaurant was closed. 90+ mph winds, 600,000 without power, six deaths. You couldn't drive anywhere for a day. I finally was able to get out of town and home. It's not fun.
Woman a couple streets from my mom got hit by a tree and died.
Funny to see Tesla's with smug license plates in line to get gas for the generators.
Less funny to see how many Tesla drivers don't understand that you don't just get to drive though without braking when the stoplights aren't working.
The monkeybars in the yard saved my parents bedroom during that storm. Not sure how they dealt with a tree hanging in the air afterwards but the monkey bars got pretty bent to shit.
I drove through MI as they lost power last night.
