Next week looks good for a first solid storm. Maybe even a skiable weekend 24th 25th.
More in the West France or magic pass land...

I’m going to be in Vienna with the family at the Christmas markets but with snow in the forecast I’m planning to detour west from the 27th-1st. What’s the play? Stay in Innsbruck and ski the glacier in Solden? Try to find an early season lodging deal in St. Anton? Landeck?

Everybody's gotta have parkas. I'm talking custom parkas. Two words: "client development." They see all of you out there cutting the powder in your matching Schweikart & Cokely parkas, you'll make an impression. You will thank me later.

The resorts have the snowguns blazing but not many smaller resorts open before 1st week December.

    From Innsbruck-a couple glacier options.
    Hintertux
    Stubai
    Pitztal
    Kaunertal
I only skied Stubai glacier and it was alright for turns.

Ah shit you’re right. Doesn’t look like the resorts in the Arlberg will even be open.

They had a lot of snow in September so might be better.

Axamer lizum (40min from Innsbrooklyn) gonna open the ribbon of death on Friday.
Beautiful area, good for the wife to hang out on the top if it is sunny and calm. If you want to alternate runs?

Just a heads up to Arlberg skiers.

They are running the pre buy option for the season passes again this year. Must buy between Nov 28 and Dec 12. Personal pickup only. Big savings, plus an extra 100€ off, for past year season pass holders!

Called an audible to my audible. Taking the night jet from Vienna to Zurich. Probably will ski Engelberg if anyone is around.

I guess I initially read that wrong, like I thought you meant over new years. But you're over here at the shift Nivember-December, right? Christmas markets in November, WTF?

Well, anyways, Engelberg is quite a stretch for me for an early season weekend... But if you end up in Innsbruck, Stubai Gletcher sure is handy.

Tax euros substitutes the lift comps. Just sayin. Some small lifts are owned b y the surrounding villages etc. it is not only corporate greed running the show here? It is way worth : )

Today mornings full lot and broken cable car made me turnaround.

Cable car was fixed around 11:00. We had easy parking as so many people had left already

You didn't miss out on anything. Snowguns blazing making visibility somewhat limited in the shade, busy on the slope even after the shitshow was sorted out (no more lines with Olympiabahn and the cable car running in parallel though, so that was good). Snow was mostly edgeable and actually quite nice, but nothing to write home about. There were some patches of ice here and there that made it extra interesting.

On the other hand, snow on the glaciers this weekend was just amazing. Loads of soft snow moguls where traffic was high, and great, cold stuff to carve your heart out where traffic was low. Offpiste still very limited, had some nice runs on friday but after a while getting a fresh line meant rolling the dice on sharks, which were hungry. All in all good 4 days of skiing, more to come.

Jealous of the people out west, I wouldn't mind having a base...
