What have you bought/upgraded today.

So I put in an order for a custom framebag from Sagebrush Stitchworks (formerly FBJ) back in August. Between them getting evacuated for fire in southern California hills and the Element in the shop, it took til this past weekend for it to show up. Fits perfectly and looks stylie- one big pocket fits tube, tool roll, and first aid kit. Small pocket has multi-tool and 6mm allen key for front wheel, but would fit phone and a snack too.

What's her inseam? Been thinking about doing the same for the Lady.

I'm trying 165s again and seems fine for climbing even with my 33" inseam. The lady's been on 165s but she's got a lot less leg than me, like 29 or 30. Coul dprolly be happy on 160s.

Don't know her inseam but she's 5'1".
On 170s, I noticed her rocking slightly while pedaling. That and the rock strikes made switching a no-brainer. She immediately felt (and performed) better on techy climbs.
Because she's tiny, I was originally concerned with power loss but 10mm is < 6% drop in leverage. She could probably even go to 155mm without issues but I didn't want to push it.

Same body geometry for me and 165 is $$$. The state of the pedals and crankarms on my trail bike for which I could only find 170s is alarming. Looks like I routinely drag them behind the car...

Speaking of cranks, I saw these on qbp and took a chance. They make all the way down to 145s. I've got a pile of dub bb’s and 3 bolt Sram rings so that made it easier to try.

I’ve been on 152’s most of the season on my Stevo and am sold on short cranks.

I’ve been fighting the urge to order these DTSwiss 30th Year hubs, but I finally broke down last week. I’m in a silver phase at the moment and looking to move back to DT from I9, want to try the new DEG driver, they were on sale, blah blah…I came up with all sorts of justifications.
Gonna try this WAO Triad rim as well.

The DEG driver looks and feels pretty great so far in my hands, basically feels like instant engagement, pretty wild. hopefully will get a ride on it later this week.

Those are beautiful.
I've also been in a silver phase lately. I recently spec'd a set of silver on silver Hope T4V4 brakes on a new build and they're gorgeous.

Maven Ults magically appeared on both my bikes recently because of the silver. Those DT hubs look great, luckily for my wallet I'm over high engagement hubs after trying (silver) Hydras for a couple years.

Those are a sweet Hügi/Hayes throwback, for sure.
I highly applaud the comeback of silver spokes, black ones often look crappy after a year or two.

I run 160mm (5'9"). Wife on 150s (5'4"). You adjust to the "loss of torque" in a couple weeks. Now I climb far better than with the longer crank arms.

as seen in other threads. My XTR 1x11 from probably 2013, run on multiple bikes , surely loads of miles , finally went to parts heaven yesterday, bent all to shit from a rock or mud or both. Sad. Was all time bomber setup , probably my favorite drivetrain to this day including shimano 1x12.




but, bought the 5100 deore and the 11x51 cassette and the shifter will live on with it, so we'll see how it goes

We'll have to agree to disagree here.
At the time, Shimano's XTR Di2 1x11 was so much better than anything I'd ever used. Nothing came close.
Then their 1x12 came out and (IMO) blew it completely out of the water. I sold the 1x11 setup immediately.

I almost pulled the trigger on one. After spending too much time reading user experiences, I determined it was more of a lateral move from the oneup v2. I dug up some info on MTBR and pinkbike. If I remember correctly, the most common complaint was squishiness at full extension and constantly having to do the “resolve” procedure.

Isn't that a copy of the Bike Yoke Revive dropper? I've had two Revive's and both have been awesome. I think I used the Revive feature once on one of them I've had since 2017 and a handful of times on the newer one.

Even though it's full on ski season here in Breck, I ordered some of those new Oak Components levers for my XT brakes. Mostly for the bling as I'm real good at wasting money, but we'll see if they feel any better.

I bought one this summer. Zero complaints. I haven't had to do their process yet. I like the thunk that it makes when extended. No squishyness which my the OEM Rocky Mtn. Element seatpost had. Been happy with it. Can't compare to 1up unfortunately, but I'm 100% happy.
