True. I guess I forgot about him saying those words between the time I read them and the time I looked at the pic. So, like, within a second.

Great deal for the homeowner: take the insurance money, give the keys to the bank, and move somewhere with less dramatic weather

I remember having to go into houses like this when I was a little kid, usually during the holidays to visit some distant relative and I'd be so miserable that I wanted to die.

The old "turn a church into living space" move, but it turned out really nice (other than being in Pittsburgh): https://www.redfin.com/PA/Pittsburgh...home/174700194

Even the appliances are from the early 1960s. Which says the owners had to put in extra effort over the years to keep them working. If they are working. The listing only mentions "Laundry: Electric Dryer Hookup."

Dunno - looks like the only 60's appliance would be the oven maybe? That dishwasher and fridge are solidly 80's, I think...

Uber-classic Delta faucet in that kitchen, though.

Two ovens in a column configuration was bleeding edge for the 60s.

I bet with a fresh coat of paint and a few dozen roach motels you could turn that place into a decent spot to rent out for movie shoots.

Winona is an interesting place. Stayed there on a solo moto ride across US and CA earlier this year. Ya got the Sugar Bluff and river... across the river WI Driftless farmlands. Wish I had more time there, but my impression 1/2 was charming river side and the other half was sketch shitkickers. I think it flooded soon after I left with those deluge storms.

As I get older the last thing I want to do is carry my groceries up stairs. Maybe this place has a dumb waiter or elevator.
