So I'm guessing that Iran no longer has a surplus of ballistic missiles to sell.

Are your Russian handlers (lol, as if, Percy is just another useful idiot) asking you to concern troll about F-16s too, to boost morale?

Gotta do something. Putin just signed a law banning the national census of Russian citizens for the next five years. That's what you have to do to hide how many Russians will never come home from your "three day" operation.

-- Russia is raising defense spending by 30% to highest level on record making up 40% of all government spending as Putin continues war against Ukraine. For all the talk of peace plans, Putin is still demanding Ukraine’s unconditional surrender. Meanwhile, the Russian economy is functioning so poorly they're reduced to bartering for food with Pakistan

    - Russian gas giant Gazprom was ranked as the most unprofitable company in Russia last year, ending 2023 with a record net loss of $6.1 billion, Forbes Russia reported on Oct. 3

-- Ukraine just took out a Russian "Nebo-M" radar station worth $100+ million significantly diminishing Russia's ability to detect, track, and intercept aerial targets. Russia only had ten of them. Now they only have nine. Ukraine is getting better at blinding Russian AD

-- Ukraine wants to win this war by persuading Putin that the war was a mistake using long range drones. "Ukraine Is Already Striking Deep Inside Russia. Kyiv isn’t waiting for US permission; its drones and missiles are hitting critical targets on a near-daily basis"

-- “This war will end, in other words, only when the Russians run out of resources—and their resources are not infinite—or when they finally understand that Ukraine’s alliances are real, that Ukraine will not surrender, and that Russia cannot win,”

-- The Russian army lined up and summarily executed 16 Ukrainian soldiers after they surrendered. The war crime was captured in real time by drone camera: https://x.com/IAPonomarenko/status/1841189919894475095

-- Vox, which was once too far left for Matthew Yglesias, received more than $10 million from Hungary's authoritarian right wing Orban regime. The Hungarian regime believes "We shouldn't have fought the Russians in 1956" and "Ukraine should not defend itself" and perhaps Hungary shouldn't be in NATO at all

-- Just a few weeks earlier we found out several of the biggest MAGA-humping right wing influencers were also on the Kremlin payroll getting paid millions through a front company

-- Pro-Kremlin politicians are working to suppress the vote in Georgia's October 26th election by using a long list of methods including banning international election observers

    - The NHL season starts tomorrow. Two teams without any Russian players will play in Prague. The Jets will play a Ukrainian Heritage night game on Jan. 2, 2025. The IIHF suspended Russia from international play after its invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The war hasn't impacted contracts for current Russian NHL players but it has hurt their sponsorship deals. While most Russian players avoid discussing the politics of the issue, Alexander Ovechkin openly supports Putin. Ovechkin is chasing Gretzky's goal record. He's 42 away. May Gretzky's goals record stand the test of time!

Wasn't the cost of the Cold War a key contributor to the fall of the USSR?

Yeah, crashing oil prices after the 1970s runup directly caused the economic collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1980s. The fact that oil prices are falling is a big problem for Putin today. Without high oil prices or foreign financing Putin's war becomes unsustainable.

Oil prices are up due to Middle East tensions. A larger regional war would initially cause an even bigger spike. Saudi Arabia also plans an oil production hike. Even if Putin talks them out of it the United States is expected to increase production. Big picture, the long run trend is still down. Adjusted for inflation oil prices aren't any higher than they were in the '60s back when everyone thought the world would reach 'peak oil' in 1971.

Back in the '70s, gas stations posted flags — green if they had gas, yellow if rationing was in effect and red if they were out of gas. People could only fill up on odd or even days based on their license plate number. Russia and the Saudis were making bank. Drivers often saw around-the-block lines when they tried to fill up. Now that only happens at Costco or when there's a storm. Oil supplies have become relatively stable and prices relatively inexpensive.

I don't think the swept under the rug Khmeimim strike a few days ago is, no shit Sherlock alias material. Hopefully an evolution of Russian/Iranian supply chain interference.

There's a vid out today that shows what looks like a Su-30 shooting down his own S-70 mega-drone, possibly for reasons...

The Sukhoi S-70 Okhotnik-B (‹See Tfd›Russian: ????? ?-70 "???????", lit.?'Hunter'), also referred to as Hunter-B,[4][5] is a Russian ”stealth” heavy unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) being developed by Sukhoi and Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG as a sixth-generation aircraft project.[6] The drone is based on the earlier Mikoyan Skat, designed by MiG,[7] and encompassing some technologies of the fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet.[8][9] In the future, it is planned to act under the control of pilots of Su-57 jets, similarly to the USAF Skyborg programme.[10][11]

Mr. Woodward’s book does not report what Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin discussed in the call in early 2024, nor does it provide details about the additional calls mentioned by the Trump aide.

It would be highly unusual for a former president to privately talk with a top American adversary like Mr. Putin without clearing it with the current administration — especially at a time when the United States and Russia are on opposite sides of a war in Europe.
Yes NYT, it would be ‘highly unusual’. FFS.

According to Russian Telegram channels a decades old obsolete Ukrainian F-16 shot down one of Russia's latest Sukhoi Su-34 fighter/bomber jets. Let the old falcons hunt!

This is part of zelenskis victory plan.

Joint protection by the US and the EU of Ukraine's critical natural resources and joint use of their economic potential

What this basically means is selling Ukraine s natural resources. Wonder what will be left of the country.

It's called direct foreign investment. A good thing, actually. Meanwhile in Russia....

“20% is not the limit for the key rate” - Russian Central Bank

Sounds like the same plan that Saudi Arabia has with the US. Our taxpayer dollars pay to protect the House of Saud and in turn the oil companies and JaKush get billions of dollars. Oh, wait, that sounds like a crappy deal for 270 million tax paying Americans and awesome for a few thousand well connected people in America and of course the Trump crime family.
