That's what you have to do, i guess once you pass 50. my mom has serious health problems and my step-dad is literally keeping her going by constant care and dedication she has wanted to check out many times as her downs have required hospital stays. Seems to me once you pass some age, everyone is different; you have to be the reason you keep pushing on.

Damn, skiJ. You've always had such amazing positivity of the contagious kind. I hope you get all the low angle meadow skipping you can do. Get well.

    Yo SkiJ,
My new season pass is valid what, 5 miles from your place? You & I will ski together again this winter. I’m excited about this new pass.

Two cardiac gimps shredding the low angle groomers FKNA !

Even if you don’t put on skis and we just share a cup of coffee in the day lodge together, that still counts as skiing with friends. Word.

    Fucking mountain lions!!

We all love mountains. And lions are awesome!!

    Unless they eat you.

PS. Mountain lions are actually cougars. And cougars can destroy your life and marriage.

About to turn 50 and am too tired to continue

    Ski-J

Positive healing vibes sent your way.

“Heart failure” is a scary term but like anything medical there are degrees of severity. Sometimes people hear “failure” and understandably think their heart is no longer working - it’s more like your heart is a car engine and with age it’s no longer as efficient as it should be. It’s a “failure” to work as well as it should.

The treatments available to stabilize and improve the efficiency of your heart have changed dramatically over the past decade - best advice is to see a heart specialist if you can unless your GP is really up to date on the newer treatments. Unless your GP is fresh out of school the treatment algorithm they were previously taught is no longer the standard approach.

And a “I skied with Harry” or a “I had a coffee with Harry” t-shirt sounds like a great 24/25 season goal.

All that^. I was freaked when my dad was told he had heart failure. It’s a terrible name for what can be a very manageable condition. My dad would have times were the chf would big him down to the point of him being a floppy rag doll that didn’t have the energy to even stand still. He’d go into the hospital for some IV lasix and the diuretic would take all the fluid off and he’d be good to go and full of energy. We became fairly frequent flyers w the CHF team at the hospital. Find yourself some good cardiac care!

SkiJ already has one of my T-shirts, we skied together at Christie Mountain a few years back. Great guy, he has a heart of gold. I would ski, or have coffee, with him anytime anywhere.

On the contrary. I'd love to able to read what he posts. It literally gives me a panic response and I had to put him on ignore.

Yeah I only kinda understood what he wrote. Makes my eyes hurt and my ADHD go nuts. But somewhere in there were a lot of kind words when I lost Wally.

I'm 6 months away from 50. I certainly wish I had the fire, piss and vinegar I had when I was 35. I need to lose 30lbs. Can't stop eating ice cream.

Overall though, life is good. I'm sober. I was a drunk mess 4yrs ago.

I def need to have a fit and healthy 50s to set myself up for my 60s and beyond.

    Hope things are good buzz.

B - As someone who lost more than 30, I can tell you it’s well worth the effort. You already have the discipline to refuse alcohol every day. You can cut sugar/carb intake. You’ll feel so much better and have more energy.
