Was planning on heading to Adams this coming weekend. I would be skiing, but friends hiking. It's received 20" of snow since Sunday, but weather calming down between now and Saturday. Avalanche reporting is done for the year. While I've climbed Adams in July, I've never skied it or gone this early. I know it's generally lower risk for avalanche, but not sure if the new snow will be settled enough. Any additional resources for me to look at beyond the FS and NWAC websites?
Take a look at mountain-forecast.com
There were 70 mph wind gusts yesterday, and a warming trend is coming (no below-freezing temps even at the summit on Thursday and Friday).
My take is that the new snow will likely not be settled and certainly hasn’t been through a freeze-thaw cycle.
My friends and I canceled our plans for Adams this Friday - we’ll see what next week brings
I'm not sure how much new snow there's been at Adams, but around Bellingham we just had a ton of rain and new snow up high. It's worth waiting a week for that to cook down, esp given the really high temps. Cooler 8-10k freezing levels next week could set up some real corn
Has anybody gotten out this week since the storm passed? Wondering if there are any feasible options to ski or if everything is still transitioning
It’s 40f at 10k’. It hasn’t had any freeze. Bottomless mush at 6500’ today

No ski photos, just some pics from the last two weeks of visiting my Mom. Weather has amazing the last few days. When it's like this, I can see why everyone wants to live here. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful places in the U.S.
Took the Key Stone ferry over to Port Townsend last week during a gale warning. This on the way back and the winds were ripping. Fun ride.
Fish & Chips in Port Townsend were primo.
Good to know.
For somebody not from here it's so green it practically hurts your eyes.
Sunset over Deer Lagoon on South Whidbey.
Some of the lowest tides of the year this week made for some great tide flat roaming.
10:10 p.m. The twilight stretches on and on these days.
5:36 a.m. A beautiful Friday morning.
Went for a short paddle in the kayak this morning and got followed by these two guys. Not a great pic but I like how Rainier dominates the skyline.
Not even any clouds hanging over the Olympics today.
Tried to line this up the best I could but I might be a little off.
Took a quick run over to Mukilteo. Super nice on the way over.
More amazing views. Looks like another three days of great weather. Enjoy.
Great pics.

These look amazing, what spot is this? I'll be in PT a lot later this year, looking forward to trying these
Skied Baker via the Squak this morning, dropped from the summit around 11, snow was nice down to around 7000ft where it turned to tedious mush, mostly melted out below 4700ft. The upper mountain is very filled in, perhaps fatter than the last time I was up there late May 2022.
If in PT be sure to visit https://www.restaurantfinistere.com/. Really terrific restaurant. Fantastic happy hour.
We just moved down to WA last week and are missing the ocean and a little overwhelmed by all the people and traffic. Went over to Port Townsend on Thu and now the wife wants to spend a long weekend, i.e. half a paycheck there, lol.
We did go to Sea Js and I will admit the halibut was solid. Definitely the kick I needed to start getting the boat put together so I don't have to spend the other half of my paycheck on fish!
BTW: Sea Js was cash only. $55 for a ten piece fish & chips with slaw and 4 pieces of garlic bread. More than enough for 2 or 3 people.
Has south climb melted out yet? Is the road typically fucked or have they done any maintenance in past 5 years(Last time I was there precovid)
Really nice smooth snow at Stevens still, great for a quick lap and quiet hike.
