From Slint to Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Pixies etc etc it’s hard to overstate his influence.

By all accounts, he was one of the good guys in a cut throat industry. Rip

You ever notice that's the only subforum listed in ALL CAPS.

Probably turns people off from going over there.

I’m a regular website user, cause much like a Marlboro Red, this place is better when it’s full flavor, hoss.

I choose to believe music legends dying in their 50s and 60s is the result of ALL CAPS, Marlboro Reds, the Rock & Roll lifestyle, and not the merciless unwinding of actuarial curves on a large sample.

You’re new here, so I’ll walk you through it. The PR rules are that when an artist of unique or broad cultural impact dies or goes to prison or whatever, it bleeds into the forum that actually gets read. Albini helped create the soundtrack for many genXers here.

This is as good a time as any to get certain snowflakes prepared for the fact that when Bob Dylan or Keef die, there will be a PR thread.

Assuming the forum software is somewhat functional.

Back in the early 90's, I was at some wicker park hipster bar (Rainbo Room?). I see Albini in a very INTENSE conversation with a very fucked up and very upset woman whom I believe was his future wife. As I'm leaving, my drunk punk loving girlfriend goes right up and inserts herself between them and starts gushing about his music. If looks could kill, there wouldn't be enough left of me to fill a shot glass.

61 is pretty young but old rockers are kicking off cuz they are as a focus group the right age TO kickoff

I also wondered why this was not in the music forum, also why we still have a bullfighting forum which was only funny the first time you read it

I saw Shellac in Missoula in 2011. That was a good show, and I probably would have watched for dates for the new album. RIP.

But when I saw he died, I immediately wondered if it was a heart attack. He always a struck me as a high blood pressure personality.
