Good for Montana, compared to CO/UT etc, still a bit of a slog. Also weird weather patterns, similar to Red Lodge. Lots of early and late snow divided by a windy winter regime. But a very cool range.

Yeah, stay outta the T-Roots! They suck

Also, I’ve pulled / rescued numerous people out of the Potosi road area, and it’s more popular than ya think.

Well at the majority of bozeman think potosi/willow ck is the only drainage....I'm fine letting the lemmings follow each other.(not to say the options up there aren't pretty awesome.)

I was referring to winter access not summer access.

I might have to shoot this big boy who was strutting in the yard a few days ago.

I just learned that while turkeys can fly they hate it and really only do it for short distances. They prefer to run and can go over 30 mph.I'm going to try and get a few more shots but they don't allow you to get close.

Made the most of the north facing stuff today, couple North Summit laps and bootpacked the Gum Wall. Never skied Orbit before. Selfie is all I got.

The Big Belts became largely impassable after the Deep Creek fire. The wind now rips through the trees and drifts a section of the road that makes it impossible. There’s a bypass people use but it’s technically non-motorized in winter.

@WRG, Bill and Ann had their cat go missing last winter and were consequently "adopted" by a Turkey. The damn thing hangs out by their door and perches on the railing around the deck of the house at Beckman Flats.

Big hen that they plan on trapping and re-locating to a larger flock where she can be back with her own kind.

I was back visiting my buddy a few years ago, he lives in the hills near Salinas in California. Place is loaded with critters - wild pigs, turkeys, deer, Tule elk, it's crazy. The turkeys walk around in huge flocks and act like they own the place. It can get kinda annoying when you're trying to have a conversation on the deck, and with any sound you make they bust out in a chorus of gobbles.

We were driving up the canyon from getting some beers and a red tail hawk swooped down out of the sky in front of us and crashed into some brush on the side of the road. Instantly a couple of hen turkeys came down off the hillside and started kicking the hawk's ass right in front of us. The hawk had tried to nab a poult and was now getting it's ass beat for the effort. It barely got off the ground and was trying to fly away and the two hens were right on top it trying to knock it back down. You can tell they were past the ass kicking stage into the kill that fucker stage, and the hawk barely got away.

Turkeys can get pretty sporty when they want to.

    Turkeys don't play.

FYI I just drove 83 from Bigfork south last night at dusk. I have literally never seen so many Elk and Deer on one road at one time. Hundreds of both. Saw a clearly local guy with a dually + big gooseneck with a skid steer not even tap his brakes. Just smoked a deer and kept rolling. I'd have one of those big heavy steel deer slayers on my truck no doubt if I drove up there regularly.

Funny shit, I called Big Sky this morning asking about when the pass details would get released. Tay-tay must have heard me.

Odd that they never mentioned the Freestyle pass, or did I miss that in the original season pass announcement. Seems like the Flex pass under a different name.

Why would anyone ever buy the 2x Black pass?

Lol. when I was driving from Dillon to TB pre-dawn everyday, I’d do my best to get behind hayhaulers coming off the bench at beaverhead rock. Added a few minutes to the commute but saved me a few grand in bodywork.

20 years ago the trees came right down to the road on that corridor. That was really scary.

Good question, it's only $200 less than full gold.

Rumors were flying in the Big Sky bars last night that gold passes were going to exceed $3,000 for next year. People had "seen the paperwork," it was for sure a done deal. I guessed $2,300 and was right on the money. Fucking Big Sky rumor mill...

I stopped braking for turkeys when I lived in Red Lodge. Too damn many of the fuckers strutting around like they own the place, and it turns out they're perfectly capable of crossing the road more quickly when motivated to do so.

I may have surprised some of the people in the school van I was driving more recently back here in Maine when I applied the same theory to turkeys near the roadway.
