I think you’re confusing Holiday with some other NY ski area. They are family owned

got it but just because I can’t resist being overly anal about it, Holiday Valley is in WNY. I have not been there but I trust Bmill’s recollections of it being lots of fun. Holiday Mountain in Monticello is a feeder hill that almost went out of business but was pulled back from the brink last year. Them being open later than long- established well- funded operations like Mountain Creek and Mount Peter is really impressive.

What’s even more interesting is my source at Holiday Valley is NOT backing down after seeing the article about Hidden Valley.

I’m also curious about the cost benefit analysis for when ski hills close. Is Holiday Mountain open later because they are still making more money than it costs to stay open per day? Is that why Mountain Creek and Mount Peter closed? It’s cool Holiday Mountain is staying open, but at what cost?

I don’t think the new owner is doing high level cost/benefit analysis yet. He’s still learning. They got a late start so probably just trying to deliver a few more days for the passholders

Just another example of Holiday Valley doing things right:

Holiday Valley cranks up 100 snow guns for late March push

That's doing skiers a solid in what looks to be a year where they got about half the natural snowfall they normally get.

I’ll fucking be there. I’m not happy about it. Serious eclipse fans in my wife’s family and they are all converging on the Upstates. I’m flying in to meet up with my lovely wife. Luckily I have some folks to stay with that I actually want to visit.

Looking forward to 6 hour traffic jams each way on Monday. At least there are greens and wings and riggis in my immediate future. Thus far, however, my idea of skiing closing weekend has not been met with a positive response.

lol. Streaming CLE Afternoon Drive today was a hilarious 40 minute rant on all things eclipse and the accompanying impending shit show. Godspeed, at least you’ll have skiing and riggis.
