Does anyone have suggestions for a place to view that would allow us to get to Rochester Monday night without a heinous drive? I will be with my wife and toddler, I've already done the remote and rad for the 2017 eclipse and am looking for a nice place to spend the day with the family. We have an invite to join a group near Saranac Lake but I have a feeling that is going to get rowdy.
If the visitor counts are accurate for the Totality areas, there will be heavy traffic in most of the areas in the path. I'd probably not want to be on I-90 the NYS Truway during the Monday times before and after the eclipse times. How early and how late the traffic will be heavy is hard to say at this point.

How on earth is it possible that the only region with zero cloud cover on the path of totality is ADK?

or the parking lot of lock 6.

    fact.
Building on this suggestion, an out of the way place to avoid oswego crowds: 104>104A>McNeil Road>McIntyre Road = the bluffs.

I am infatuated by peoples' obsession over clouds now. It is incredibly entertaining.

    Small things, I know.

My wife's childhood bestie is the newly-elected mayor of the upper upstate town they grew up in. That town happened to be in the path of totality yesterday, so as mayors do, she organized a little get together in the local park for the 10,000 visitors who would otherwise have no reason to ever visit the place.

The forecast was allegedly for sunny skies and the turnout was good, but the weather became cloudy just before and during the eclipse.

Since then she has been inundated with hate mail...about the fucking weather. Everything from criticisms of the location (IE, it was sunnier at the park on the other side of town, WTF was she thinking when she planned this last month), to conspiracy accusations involving the mayor's office, the weatherman, and the chamber of commerce, to people just flat out writing in to tell her that her town is a shithole.

Luckily, she is finding nothing but humor in the comments.

way to represent 2M. I was stuck working yesterday so all I saw was the great dimming- still appropriately awed by the miracle of the universe, vastness of space, humbled by the power of nature etc... you all get it. how long did it take you to drive home?
