If Mario was there in the late '90s early 2000s then quite possibly.
Mario is the latest dude, I don’t think he was even born yet in that time period. He’s been doing it 3-4 years now. Skinny jeans, waxed mustache, rides a fixie while smoking a pipe.

I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Lmao...he's a dirt pimp in the off seasons, right?

The 'Big Lie' title came about because all of a sudden, BS had the longest total vert...
although one could argue that the installation of Lone Moose maybe completed that number.
Laughable.
I'll put up the entire Sublette ridge, over 4k of expert terrain top to bottom. No stopping, no fucking cattracks and no poling outta the flats.
JHMRs are still bitter over the way Big Snivel had more vertical for a year or so? Never mind that it involved skating across a parking lot and down Low Dog road to get to Lone Moose?
Water over the dam. Our Cooler is way cooler than Corbets Cooler.

Boyne closing 6-shooter & Lone Tree 4/14.
Fuckers. Yet another reason why the Flex passes are no longer a deal.

Workforce starting to wander off? Landscrape crews are going to be getting dirty real soon at this rate.
Maybe they are trying to get a jump on replacing that lift, short construction season?
They always close the dark side early.

Last year’s April powder dumps had me wondering why half the mountain was closed - no lifties and they probably wanted to cheap out on operating costs.
In other news, I’m headed back to the avalanche prone scree slopes of Montana from Hokkaido, where I’ve been stomping around the BC for the last two months.
I have an indie pass, so if anyone wants to ski Red Lodge or LT or Idaho, etc. hit me up!

Most of us — at least those of us of a certain age — have spent half a lifetime listening to wild-ass reports from ski areas. Marketing spin rarely phases me. With widespread access in more recent years to weather stations & raw data, data manipulation is largely a thing of the past.
This report from B.S. from Feb 6th was SO over the top I had to save it. This was a "0-1 inch day".... "Lots of snow all at once is not ideal!"That's a helluva spin on a storm not producing.
That said, I did ask on this thread about raw data/daily snowfall totals (and annual snowfall totals—because it was starting to smell like the stated averages have not been accurate for a decade or more) and was given a general "Well, you can't really look at things that way because wind." :-)
Good/bad/whatever... it's just nice to be able to look at raw data/snowfall/wind and make judgments of what to ski and where to go based on that.
Anyway, that snow report had me on the floor.![]()
I'll take some Hike in/Hike Out HW April deepness all day. The issue is that the actual HW chair hasn't been spinning really at all and the chances of them opening it just to service the like 30 people a day who want to walk back out of Stillwater to the chair is very slim.
I'm not a Boyne shill by any means, but there really is no where else I have skied where the snow varies THAT much in any given storm. IMO the report means nothing and is basically not worth reading, but they need something for the tourists. It really is all about the wind more than most places. The peak sticks up like a pyramid with hardly any other peaks very close to it of much height. 2 actual inches of snowfall with the right wind will produce actual deep turns if you know where to go. See: The photos swimmy and I got this year. There has hardly been that many actual reported deep days.....but a 2-5" of report with correct wind and there you go.
I like it this way. Yes, places like Alta etc......the places everyone knows about for deeps.....get that deepness on the whole mountain. Same with BB really. The 20" day this year was deep on every damn stitch of the mountain. It's great, but sneaky pockets of 12-14" because the wind was going X direction from X time at X speed and there are like 10 people actually hunting around off the top. That's pretty rad too.
