Is anyone running a GFT in both their touring and alpine boots? How well does it work?

My partner has Scarpa F1s and a Technica Inferno 90 alpine boot and it would be great to get one liner that could do double duty. The liners would primarily be used in the alpine boot, but being able to swap them over for tours might be nice.

They would need to have a very similar fit primarily around the ankle and instep to have a good fit in both boots without heating/adding/subtracting cork when switching boots.

I've spent a lot of time in zip fits but this time it is really giving me a hard time during the break-in.
Warm up the trouble spots and move the cork around to make room. You can use your thumb or the handle of a screwdriver.

I had similar issues and they resolved after this + 10 days of use.

I had to remove some cork from the heel area in one of mine. I used an empty/partial tube and just shoved it as deep in the section of the pocket that is connected to the heel and removed about a quarter tube from each liner.

    @pretzel

Have you done a solid heat mold or three on your liners? Don’t break them in cold.

I find the easiest way to remove cork is to heat up the liner and just massage it out the port then remold the liner. It’s super easy to chase it out.

First thing, she’ll check yourself with your footbed in the shell only. See if you’re hitting the shell, or very close, in your problem areas. If so, expand the shell before liner work.

Yeah I’ve hit them with a good heat up on the hairdryer multiple times. It just seems to be the close shell fit along with me collapsing the radical too far forward. Huge bummer, skis so good.

That new liner is gonna be cool!

I tried the Radical earlier in the season and it totally bit me on the lateral malleolus too. Gave up as I just couldn't get space there.

XT3 Pro Tour + GFT isn't an amazing walker (yet... I think I can unlock them), but they make skiing super dang fun that is for sure.

So according to that video, next year’s liner will be warmer, lighter and still be able to add cork around the ankle to take up volume there. Like the best parts of an Intuition with GFT ankle hold. Sign me up, they’ll sell a ton of those.

I just bought a pair of XT3s pros today to play with, let me know what you do to the walk mode!

Make sure you loosen the cuff enough on Langes with GFT. The walk mode can catch or run on all the shot on the Zipfit and basically not work.

I’ve never heated a Zipfit with a hairdryer but I can’t imagine that it makes it nearly hot enough for a proper molding. Get them HOT.

I run mine with screw on spoilers and it creates just enough of a gap that the walk mode doesn’t catch.

When your hairdryer costs $12 you’d be surprised how hot it can get haha. I’ll measure the surface temp and see, but it’s easily as good as the oven at 220f

Put me on for the preorder as well. Curious where they’ll land for price point. Assume durability/lifespan and production costs would be somewhere between current zip and intuition (still closer to zip, especially at current scale), so maybe they split the difference in pricing at $350?

Mixing the best of both worlds. I was wondering when zip fit would do that. I really hope that liner comes out next season like he says. I will 100% buy one.

it means they aren’t going to stuff a million of these into the market to turn around and have a warranty issue with the foam. This is seems to be a really poor idea, unless they have manufactured some sort of new foam that gives the same life expectancy as regular zipfits, or of course if the price point is around the same as intuition.

It looked to me like the cork was going to be in all the right and usual spots and the rest foam. 150-200 grams lighter than the GFT(?)

right, but foam still has a much shorter life then any zipfits so far and that’s what sets them apart is better hold but also amazing life expectancy

Obviously there will be a hit to the long term durability, but that's not the point of this new liner. As long as the price point isn't $600+ dollars it won't matter to me. I have never retired a foam liner due to the toe box wearing out... it's always the heel hold that fails first.

I’ve always been curious about the GFT but the weight was a hold up; this could be worth a look; I agree with Smiley that foam in the forefoot to make em warm and light sounds pretty good.
