I’ve been putting it in peoples Quattros this past week. If you have a high instep or high volume foot, it is a pain to get in. You probably shouldn’t have this boot if that is the case though. One customer found it very easy to keep the liner in the boot and use the Zipfit boot horn to get into the liner.

Today, I just ordered a classic rigid shoe horn and I plan to spray it with silicone spray. I figure it will bridge all the shitty layers of the Quattro and make it super easy.

Everyone finds it easier in walk mode because it’s very hard to clear the spoiler, but you need some sort of boot horn to not get snagged on the lower clog.

That’s great info thanks. If it’s easy with a boot horn and doable yet annoying without, I might be willing to make that compromise.

yeah I have super low instep, flat foot, tiny ankles, non existent calfs, and a wide forefoot, so imagine this is the best shaped boot for me. Just struggling to get the heel locked down and have room in the ankle (despite a super tight midfoot where the carbon seam makes it shitty to punch )

Good forefoot and instep fit, poor ankle fit. I don’t know what Scarpa does such deep ankle pockets.

    Give it a try!

I’ve noticed this with my tx comps.
The ankles fit like shit compared to my old t race.

Any recommendations to tighten up the ankle pocket? This has never been an issue for me in any boot. I ski Lange LV most of the time.

Ok I’m GFT curious. Haven’t been able to get through this whole thread but have a question before I pull the trigger.

I just got some Backland XTD’s and I think they are going to be great. Have been happily using an Intuition Wrap (Godiva) in my ZGTP but the better walk mode of the Backland warrants some exploration.

The Backland has a gaiter and the racer style if liner on then into shell is not going to work.

Has anyone used this liner putting it into such a gaitered shell first then getting in? How much of an annoyance is it getting the liner in and out to dry etc?

    Cheers.

As mentioned, check out zipfits insta. A shoe horn works. We’ve been using atomics rigid shoe horn to bring over the walkmode mech and notches with a boot is in walkmode. . Spray the shoe horn with silicone spray and you’re laughing.

I feel like you’re going to be into an interesting journey with fitting your boots. The backland xtd is much roomier than the current zero g. The GFT will do a much better job holding your ankle than the Godiva but might feel roomier, and will definitely feel roomier in the forefoot and toes. But you can add a ton of cork so you’ll be good eventually.

    Great thanks!

Climbed and skied 3k last night with the Godiva shoved in the XTD and was honestly pretty good. But interested to try and unlock the potential of the walk mode.

Anyone seeing wear/dmg like this on their GFTs? Thoughts for stopping it before it gets worse?

Only happening on one liner (left foot, inside)

I bought used but these have about 30 days total on them. I assume it’s not a warranty possibility since they’re a few years old and I’m the second owner

Looks like they were used in a boot with Hoji lock. Do you have Dynafit or did the person before you?

You can cut off that entire plastic piece. It increases walk ROM, doesn’t interfere with the Hoji lock and you might need to put in a bit of cork to make up for volume.

If you don’t have Hoji boots, you’re good.

I’m in backland xtds right now, hawx xtd before that. Not sure about prior owner.

I’ll just keep an eye on it for now and see how it goes. Glad to know its not a big deal

I’ve found the boot horn to be more trouble than help in the Backland XTD. I’ve just been holding the gaiter tabs while I shove my foot in, but those zipfit insta videos look like a really promising method

You're good to go. I would just trim that bit away, and maybe add some aqua seal at the edge.

If you look at the photos on zipfit's website, it looks like the most recent version is shaped slightly differently and doesn't have the honeycomb plastic in that spot anymore.

What do people think about the breathability on these? I love my zgtp’s but the liners make my feet sweat like a mofo.

Haven’t seen any discussion of it here, but rumor is they’re working on a much lighter, more breathable touring liner.

That was specifically done because of interference with the Hoji lock.

Ultra light zip liner looks good. Very light. Very different construction. Meant for super low volume 1000g boots.

The corsa is also a good option for a low volume, lighter touring liner. Trim a bit of the plastic away and it would have a huge ROM. As is, it is very flexible.

Is the corsa lighter that the GFT?

Following up for CaliBrit or others who might be interested in the GFT/Backland XTD, I've been playing with it and I think this is the best way to get the GFT in racer style:

    1. Boot fully unbuckled and in ski mode
    2. Hold gaiter open with front and back tabs, and step in like you would normally with a zipfit and an alpine boot
    3. Put boot in walk mode, push cuff backward as far as it goes, and smooth out the gaiter as needed (likely on the sides, where there aren't tabs)
    4. Pull cuff back into place and sort your buckles/etc out as needed for the walk up

The way the zipfit guys present it on insta (boot in walk mode, cuff pulled really far back) doesn't seem to work with the backland XTD because the ski/walk connection gets in the way of the cuff going too far back, and if you try to step in when its in walk mode your GFTs get caught up on the plastic of the clog. I also have very high volume feet, so YMMV.

Love this thanks. How do you find the GFT at taking up the volume in the backland? Did you have to add extra cork?

Unless your foot is identical to wax loaf and you have the same fit, that question is ridiculous.

I was in a Hawx Prime XTD before and the fit is nearly identical. Not sure if that helps

Anyone have any advice for me, I'm currently breaking in a new GFT in a dynafit rad pro and it is absolutely killing me around the base of my heels and the lateral malleolus on my left side. Do I just need to tough this out? Remove some cork?

I've spent a lot of time in zip fits but this time it is really giving me a hard time during the break-in.
