I need to stop looking on these forums. I have been loving my MVP 108s, but have been told by a few the Jedi Mind Stick is even better. Love the description of them "these skis are big enough to float on powder days but still perform well on hardpack and chop. A true one ski quiver that you can carve on groomers, hit a backcountry jump, or float through deep snow. No more need to decide which ski is right for the day. "

Speaking of my previous comment below. Anyone on here have experience with both the MVP 108 and Jedi Mind Stick and can speak to how they are compared to each other? Also, interested in how the MVP 94 is compared to the MVP 108?

I have the MVP 108 and am thinking about snagging the Jedi Mind Stick and MVP 94 at some point.

I haven't been on a MVP, but I have 190 Mind Sticks that I'd let go of for a song. DM me if you're interested.

Just popping in to say how much of a blast the Praxis MVP 108 is. They just fucking do it all. Chopped up snow. Grab the MVP. 2ft powder day. Grab the MVP. Want to just pop off side hits and chill. Grab the MVP. Dropping cliffs and larger airs. Grab the MVP.

Only condition I want a heavier, more damp ski is that really hard pack/icy stuff no one wants to ski in anyways.

Really hoping for a sale soon to grab some Jedi Mind Sticks, which I assume might be an even better for the PNW.

I really wish Blister would re-review the MVP, I don’t think they adequately detuned the pair they were given and I’m convinced the review killed some of the sales of that ski.

I have the 187 OGs and if I stand up a little taller and ski them with a more parallel style they’ll wiggle through tight spots at slower speeds. And at 5’7’’ ~163lb I can’t find the speed limit when I get the chance to open them up.

Yeah I think that is what's so awesome about the MVP (I have the newest version). I find I can really drive them hard through the tips due to how stiff they are, slash to cut speed with ease, and snake through the tightest trees due to how nimble they are when I maintain a more neutral stance. I think they just strike a good balance with stiffness, tip and tail rocker, camber, etc. Not trying to claim they are the best one ski quiver, but certainly feel close.

Best (west coast) one ski quiver that I’ve found for my size and ski style. But I usually find space in my roller bag to bring Chipotle Bananas along for the trip.

agreed, it’s been a long time and the ski has been redesigned / refined since then anyway.

^^^ agreed with all of that.

It's not so much that the mvp does anything spectacularly. It's more that it does *everything* pretty well. I haven't been on another comparable ski that was so well rounded. Every other ~108 rocker/ camber/ rocker ski I've been on has at least one or two situations where I really didn't like it. Too much work in tight stuff, twitchy at speed, harsh on crunchy snow, shitty edge hold, etc. The mvp is pretty decent at all of that.

I've also been really liking the FRS (aka the MVP 118) as well. Not because it's so good as a powder ski, but because it's good as a cut up chop ski that also does pretty well in pow. Given that most pow days realistically involve 2 runs of fresh followed by a bunch of chopped up stash hunting, having a ski that's fun in chop feels more useful than having the absolute best pow ski.

Some of the older tunes were really hot garbage, beyond just the ultra sharp tip to tail edges w no detune. Base bevels not done , edge high, etc. My 2014 or 15 vintage GPO was grabby as hell due to this , since then my Q came with a perfect tune.

The Blister reviews and some others really suffered from this inconsistent tuning. Seems to be fixed now, but the damage was unfortunately done.

Just need to figure out how to get Blister some new models somehow. We need to create some Praxis hype!

Just ventured into my first Praxis shape other than Protests and picked up some 187 GPO's. Love the specs on these and they are heavier than listed on website btw. Where we mounting on these? Website has line at -7 and I am thinking -8 or -8.5. Im a bit more directional and have my Protests bumped back a cm.

For a bunch of supposed gear junkie experts you'd think those guys would know how to identify and fix a bad tune before blasting out a bad review. Kind of sad, really.

Def back 1. Maybe 1.5. The shark nose tip is what makes the ski awesome ,but it can dive a bit on the line, esp if you are used to more directional chargers. GPO has a big sweet spot, mine started on line but I moved back 1cm.

The Q I have on the line and love it there so I'm fine w center mounted skis. Just liked the GPO better back 1

Agree with this big time. Between the improved tunes and the slight shape changes, I bet the MVP 108 would review really well now.

i really beat up my 94’s the other day skiing down to the base at the extremely rocky and horribly thin Orford Mountain so i dropped them off for a fancy wintersteiger auto machine tune.

they were unbearably hooky, i freaked out because those skis have been perfect since the moment i mounted them two years ago.

fortunately, three flicks from a file on the tips and tails and i’m back in business, they’re perfect again.

the can-do-it-ness and fun factor of this ski is such a good blend, for me, anyway.

had a blast night skiing everything from icy sheets, ice moguls, and corn last night. 10/10 would buy again.

Pretty sure these are going to replace my aging Piste Jibs. Nice to see an east coast (eastern townships) review ! Do you have any time on any similar waisted all mountain skis with metal? After getting back on some skis with metal in them, I was second guessing the MVP 94 in that dedicated harder snow spot.

i can’t think of anything super recent i’ve tried with metal in a similar waist, just some bigger pow / lift riding skis.

happy to bring the quiver to tremblant on the 16th/17th if you want to do an impromptu demo day. i think mine are set up to about 315mm if that helps you.
