Technically, Not Bonnie

Definitely. World of difference. I went up to the Lassen (CA) area several years ago to catch the annular eclipse (sun is a thin circle around the lunar disk) and that was a world of difference from totality.
Some other discussion about being close to the center-line: Not really necessary; you just don't want to be too close to the edge of the totality stripe, because that will more significantly reduce your totality time.
I'm about 6 miles south of that thin blue line zoomed all the way in. I think that's pretty damn close. 3:32 of total in both spots. The issue is the time of day. And the high likelihood that it will be raining or snowing. Of course I'm not really sure how much I actually care.
Lulz. Yup. About six miles from center of center line.
I live within stumbling distance of that place.. Of course I really don't like their beer. Great guys, glad they are there, they just don't make what I like. Oh, and at that time of day, that time of year, the sun won't be overhead the spot where they put outside tables, which also won't be open due to, you guessed it, the time of year. The former JC Penney, now Planet Fitness, building does a good of blocking the light in the back parking lot. Mill River has a better shot of the right viewing angle.
You said no videos but what about this:

Now's the time to book flights; when this thread started, flights weren't listed yet, but they are now (Southwest isn't booking April '24 for another month though). Flights will sell out.
My sis said we can stay with her friend in Yantis TX (4:15 totality duration), but I'm hedging my bets and I booked a motel room (the Super 8) in Garland (4:03 totality duration) just in case. Not exactly swank accommodations, but it happens to be a 20 minute walk from a bus line that goes in and out of Dallas 7 days a week, so we wouldn't have to rely on the shitshow that the rental car situation will likely be.
Some 2017 stoke--I did not expect to be awed, but it was one of the truly awesome things I've ever experienced.

No pics but for 2017 I went down to a local fishing hole in South Routt with my old dog to experience it, made the old-school cardboard box with a cutout like I did in elem school. It was very neat, especially when the birds stopped chirping, the crickets went silent. I felt like even the river got more calm. Nature got really really silent in the middle of the day in a matter of seconds. Even the flying bugs seemed to disappear. It was eerie and very cool.
There's some kind of eclipse, an "annular" eclipse, in October 2023. Don't know squat about eclipses so don't know how that differs from what y'all are talking about.

Coming up on 60 days until totality. Got a spot picked out in the hill country, I'm sure we won't be alone but that's cool.

I figure it's the opposite of storm chasing. I'll head for where it's not cloudy. All I really need is a place to pull over for a few hours so I'm hoping it's clear in the North Country so I can hang out on one of my customers farms.
I'm going with hoping it's not cloudy at my house.
Well, ya know, the Eastern Upstate zone has a chance but...It has to come down to a clear weather chase, if I have to go a few hundred miles in any particular direction, so be it, I'm not missing this one.
I didn't realize that April 8 is the Home Opener for the Guardos. The team has announced that the game will not start until after 4pm to allow for all eclipse activities to subside.
They estimate 200,000 people coming in town for the eclipse, another 35,000+ for the Home Opener, and who knows how many more if the Cavs have a home playoff game that night. Sounds like a party to me.

I still call it The Jake.
My house sits right on the center of eclipse totality map for April, which I’m happy about. The only problem is going to be if it rains or is cloudy. It never does that in April, right?
Oh, and another problem; if you look at the weather map of the storm system currently crossing the US, and just about every other storm that’s crossed this year and forever, it stretches from the southwest to the northeast just about exactly on the line of the eclipse. So if it is raining or cloudy here, there’s a good chance it’s going to be the same all along that line. So good luck trying to drive somewhere where it is clear.
I've never been to San Antonio so I'll just be happy to score some good food and check out the hill country. We've mapped out a few spots and we'll pack a big lunch and cross our fingers. If it happens, great. If not, we'll enjoy a nice day out in a place we've never been before.
From there we're jetting off to yurp for a couple of weeks, so most of our April is going to be adventure time.![]()
I saw that Titus Mt, the ski area in Malone NY, will be spinning their upper mt lift to get up there to watch and if there's enough snow will be open to ski down. I was already planning to head in that direction if the weather is right, this locks in that plan.
If the weather obliges, it looks like the center of totality and longer duration is west of San Antonio. It would be a good day to be on top of Enchanted Rock, although I’m sure that thought has occurred to a lot of people. Fredericksburg and Luckenbach would also be cool to visit.
