I thought Houlton was fictional, like Finland.

A lot fewer people here in Snalbans than I expected. I haven't gone downtown.

But mama, that's where the fun is!

P.S. Watching CBSN coverage of areas where they're getting the full eclipse experience, and from the frenzy the crowds are exhibiting it's not hard to imagine how ancient cultures went full Apocalypto, especially during times of food or water shortages.

P.P.S. Cosmic Coincidence. Is it, really? Hmm.

Well, mostly cloudy, but with some blue gaps between clouds allowed us to actually see it! Really cool during the totality.

Would this be a good time to admit that I didn't get the Bonnie Tyler reference till yesterday? No? Ok, then.

Bluebird day at Copper Mtn for the eclipse. Just past peak, love how funky the tree shadows get.

Saw my 8% just now. It didn't get dark at all. Damn, that was so disappointing. I thought this was going to be so cool, an eclipse and everything. My eyes are super sore and I still see the sun everywhere I look. How long until this effect goes away? Anyway, not worth the hype at all.

80% partial coverage here on a bluebird day. Noticeably darker, but nowhere near as cool as it looks to be in totality areas.

Well that was neat. Was cloudy unfortunately but was still a trip to see everything get dark as night there for a bit. Odd how the animals and everything gets super quiet. All you could hear for a while was just the wind. Felt instantly cooler for a few minutes. Bummed I got skunked with the weather but at least I got to experience the one in 2017. Oh well. Still a good time.

Finland never had a giant Ames store and one of those basement rooms in the McDonalds for hosting birthday parties.

That was pretty cool. Street lights came on. Some night crawlers came out of the lawn. The birds were weirded out.

Next one is in August 2026 in Iceland and Spain. Totality only along the far west portion of Iceland, though. That would be an incredible place to view it, but it's going to be packed and the odds of clear skies could be iffy. Spain would definitely be the better bet and it will cut a swath north to south through the entire country. Also hits the Balearic Islands. The eclipse will be something like 20 minutes before sunset in Palma de Mallorca. That would be really amazing.

90% cloud cover 5 minutes before totality here south of Garland TX. Then we got a nice mostly clearing just in time. Awesomely weird!
