I'd order those tail clips for my pomocas.

And I'm interested to see if you want the spacer with the R170 heel. That's what I plan to put on mine.

man, it is getting increasingly hard to follow this thread without buying stuff. The shapes and construction were seemingly always dialed, and now the graphics are starting to be on point as well. Dammit!

an intrepid reader pointed out the Jones and Weston tail clips that fit Pomoca. I haven’t tried them yet, but will order a set of each to see.

also, BD tail clips work just fine in the swallowtail.

I will send an updated email and update the listing online next week with the developments.

Cast is tempting, but I'm just not that in to skis-off transitions, and I have other skis for in-bounds.

Anyone else noodling on this and have thoughts?

Besides rocker/camber profile, are the FL105 and R105 basically the same ski?

Yes! Same construction. My two sibling pairs weighed within 25 grams of one another. [emoji846]

All of these skis do, they demand to be tapped.

FL105 was noticeably more difficult to screw than my R87 or R110.
Not that the other two were lightweights.

    Doesn’t the fl105 have a denser core?

I haven’t skied the Trab wire toe but everyone says great things.

For ~120 underfoot skis I really like Radical toes and a race heel like Marshall posted above. I first read about it on Wildsnow (“super radical” with steel rad toes and a SSL2 heel). It just works so so well and the Radical toes are solid. I typically use steel radical toes which have a great track record but the new all aluminum toes are lighter by 30g IIRC, maybe they will prove to be as good too? I put some aluminum radical toes on a Lotus 120 to try this year but the snow has been junk this season.

I went all in on binding reinforcement plates, because there is no faster way to wreck a great day than pulling a heel out of your ski

    but yes.
    4.1mm + tap
    Drill

i was not able to spin screws in testing with my drill without a torque limit. Hurt my hand tho.

Yeah, probably a good sign when one is grunting whilst screwing.

Realistically this ski will see a lot of short to medium tours with yo yo laps, occasional small to medium hits, some sled laps and rarely fast open alpine skiing. We just don't get to jump into big avalanche terrain when conditions are right for a 120 underfoot ski in SW CO.

Thanks y'all. I'm really liking the radical toe and race heel track setup on my Dynastar mythics, but was not sure how well they'd drive a bigger ski. Pretty well, it sounds like.

I'm not made of money, haha. I did look at those and would love to see a pair in person and see what the transitions are like.

Just FWIW and YMMV and all that, but I have at least a few hundred days on my first steel radical toe + Plum R170 heel setup mounted to fat bc skis (they have spent a season+ on 118, 124, 132, and 138mm skis), with no issues in performance or durability.

How does the 87/99 compare to the Superbro?

Similar but slightly more versatile on groomers? 99s more manageable on ungroomed?

Love my Superbros, but at times they are a handful, so a 87 comp could be tempting - just because. But 182 seem a bit short?

Yeah, so lots here, honestly. I absolutley love the comps. They turned out amazing. But I am limited with the shapes/lengths/profiles that the factory can make, and the fulfillment/delivery/etc was the most painful thing of my 25+ year career in the ski industry, so there jsut isn't another run of Comps in the near future, despite my strong desire to make more since they ski so well.

So... if you can find a pair of Comps for sale, snag them without thinking twice. The 182cm R87 is the the more "fun" responsive hardpack super bro. Sure its a bit shorter, but thats what makes it more fun and responsive in hardpack. The 188 R99 is the the more "daily driver" take it anywhere at a million miles per hour super bro.

But the challenge is that based on everything I have heard from folks WITH the comps, they are all cold-dead-hands skis...

Guess it’s my bad I didn’t pick up those outlet-87s last year.

I choose to interpret your reply so that it’s not completely unlikely sometime in the future. Fingers crossed.

Can confirm my 182 r87comps are cold dead hands skis for me. It’s a shame they are an endangered species
