HRM was open 9-12 & 1-4. The last two days have been wild over there.

The HRM lift was shut down around noon yesterday too. It was not weather related but a maintenance issue. I had to catch the shuttle back to the main lot on both days… karma I’m staying clear from Hood for the next 2 days but I hope they can get some more lifts going on the weekend for you peeps, especially Star that should be phat!

Wasn’t open yesterday while I was there.

The wind is ripping and seeing its effects on multiple aspects, even below treeline. Went for a walk yesterday and found reactive wind slab, easily cracking underfoot about 6” deep on SW aspect @ 5k.

Went for another walk today, same thing, different aspect, below treeline, NW aspect @ 5400ft.

If the winds keep ripping tonight, it will seriously impact ski quality even as this snow is falling as montucky cold smoke

WP hasn’t been able to open EPA yet, they claim due to rime. The Doo hasn’t been able to open Green yet either.
Methinks tomorrow morning driving conditions may be worse in the valley than on the passes … At least things haven’t switched from snow and sleet to freezing rain yet down here in the Shire. The original forecast had a half inch of ice as a possibility!

Power just went out at my house. I think I'll skin up Bergis road and slay that 2 inches on asphalt

I’m just sitting here listening to the wind & generator and hoping none of the 100ft trees drop on my house…all sorts of cracking and shuddering going on out there in the forest

i watched a tree take down a couple others and our power/internet lines one pole from our house. The road is blocked entirely and live power on the road. If last time is any measure, it’s gonna be days before they repair it

What a great day. 0 degrees in Bend, 28 at the hill, super quality snow.

What a bizarre couple days. Hoodoo yesterday and mtb today were WAY warmer than Redmond/bend so melty snow on the truck went to flash freeze in minutes. Crazy. Had throw a shoulder into the door to open it.

So nice to be able to (mostly) tree noodle with confidence again.

Just watched a guy being pulled on skis behind a Dodge Ram down our street. Shin deep pow turns are readily available.

Yes, but PMX took a bit longer and a lot of unhappy customers who weren't getting much info on tentative opening. I spent about 45 minutes in line and was just about to just head over to Red for one more lap when Pine popped.

The best lap, however, was the one that no one cares about. Damn fine untracked turns were had. Might try again tomorrow, but I took a spill when I transitioned off a groomer and had a tip dive into a very firm wind drift and went down hard on my right side. Upper ribs right below the arm pit are in a bit of pain. Called it after that event and then enjoyed a white knuckle drive down Century.

Hopefully lift ops gets things open sooner than today.

Considering all the Big Boy lifts have been down for days due to the wind/icing, getting PMX open by noon ain’t bad at all. Wouldn’t surprise me to see OBX spin tomorrow sometime.

Glad your cone laps were $$$$. Bummer about your crash. Heal up. Young guy like you outta be just fine tomorrow.

Went up for swing shift at MHM. Currently 7 degrees w/ rime starting to build up. Might get a wee bit funky.

What a strange few days at meadows. Deep and uncrowded with some patience involved.

Serious question…. Why would you stand in line for a lift without inquiring when they planned to load it?

I asked a lift mechanic and he told me very plainly they weren’t going to load big pine to the public until after Cloudchaser was online.

I went back down to the singles line at Red and told a few people standing around me, they all told a few other people. Some of those people turned around and walked up the hill to stand in line for 2 hours. Why stand when you could ski the same terrain from a different albeit slower lift?

Beauty of a day I thought. Warm and plush. Good turns to be had all over the lower mountain.

Also, props to the state of Oregon, Deschutes County, and the City of Bend for that third world plow job today. I think Mississippi could have provided safer roads today. Dozens of people in distress from the conditions of the roads.
