Well, looks like I will be rocking my avy gear tomorrow afternoon. Ask for change or help if appropriate. I can attest to the head first into a 5 foot snow drift and almost suffocating scenario. Please be careful out there.

+1000. Camped up there last night and it wasn’t too bad. Did 3 cones laps this morning and decided to gtf out when the already horrid winds cranked up - shame on me for being That Guy with a popup camper in a blizzard. Oh well. Everything including cone shut at 1 anyway. Trying again tomorrow….

Good luck with that camper. Got a few licks in and called it around 11. Trees were going down.

I would think Heather is filled in enough for snow bridges, but I seriously doubt mountain staff can get it ready for Sunday. They're probably scrambling to even consider SSX for Sunday given the difficulties of this week's storms. I hope they don't bother to set up race team practice areas (esp if racers are free skiing anyway, like last weekend)

Saturday looks frigid: predicted high near zero w/ wind into the mid 30s?
    🥶🥶🥶
Sunday tho: sun breaks & 20s? sounds delightful

    Then the wind picked up
    Then trees started blowing over

And it’s gonna get worse for a couple of days
    Maybe some sun on Monday

If you decide to go, bring beer for the lift ops at Rainbow. They said they will take beer all day

Rainbow lift line was actually nice, although the irregular wind ridges made things spicy.
But that got old after two runs

Any Oregon Cascades skiers have any interest in a pair of Heritage Labs R99 50/50’s in a 188. They’re too long for me. Currently mounted with STH2 13’s at 318 BSL. Sorry to cunt up the conditions thread, but I don’t want to ship and next stop is Gear Fix. I’ll cut them loose cheap for a fellow mag. DM me for no further cvnting. Could possibly meet at Meadows, Bachelor/Bend pickup is better.

I would imagine that Heather is a for sure no go because of the High Avy risk up mountain that can push down into the controlled terrain.

    From NWAC:

    “THE BOTTOM LINE

The threat of very large and destructive avalanche from the upper mountain peaks Thursday night into early Friday. Don't expose yourself to large avalanche paths originating from the upper mountain until the storm relents. Storm snow needs more time to settle and can be triggered on or above slopes 35 degrees and steeper.“

Anyone going to brave an MLK weekend? B went for a job interview Saturday and bailed on our Saturday. I'm thinking of going Sunday and or Monday, anyone heading up?
I was planning on missing this weekend, then I saw the long range forecast for Wednesday. FUCK!

Props to the crews up at the Oregon ski areas this morning. And everywhere else for that matter.

Well, tried again. Went to Meadows, got to HRM lot and HRX went on Maintenance Hold. Main lot was full and they’re bussing people from HRM to Main. MHX and Buttercup are all that’s turning. Jeebus was it crowded too. So, we just u-turned and went back home. Maybe Bowl will be better if I get there right at 3:00…

How long did u wait for HRM to open? I thought I saw it opened about 9:30, then shut down again for "maintenance ", reopened at 1:00
It's been a brutal storm cycle
Luckily the r**n in the forecast is decreasing
