I got run over by a snowboarder today, last pitch skiers right of blue. I was opening it up going 25-30 and got slammed from the left rear. He was very apologetic, but I chewed his ass hard. He tried to make excuses that his hood block his vision, but I interrupted him, THEN SLOW THE FUCK DOWN! Someone reported an accident, had to do an incident report. Ears were ringing, vision got blurry, but went away soon. I still made 8 more runs
Hopefully you'll be OK. I took a hard slam on ice recently. Now I wear a helmet.

So far ok, still sore. The impact and fall was ok, the head whiplash on the ground was what hurt. Luckily it was soft
    Thx

Mrs K2 "encouraged" me to start wearing a helmet 2 years ago. I would have been concussed without a helmet

Good to hear you are wearing a helmet. Hope you are good from the fall on ice.

that zone was a mess even w/ patrol/ambassador types sitting in the intersection warning everyone

Glad you’re none the worse for wear

(I have to admit I tried not to linger going through there — too many flailing)

MtB is essentially closed as well
7:00am Update: As anticipated, the promised extreme winds and blizzard conditions have arrived making for a challenging morning. Cloudchaser, Skyliner, Pine Marten, and Outback will be CLOSED today
No surprise there. The wind was pounding last night. Snowing like a mofo at La Ponderita

I feel like they should have farmed some more snow to fill in another path down. That single runout was fucking wild.

Pfffft. I was nightskiing one evening in the late 1980's on Yellow. They did finally close, but not for at least a couple of hours after the anemometer failed on a 85mph gust. That old Riblet was a swinging!

Must be a low level wind, Magic Mile is pretty calm...

Almost 100, gas up the chain saws.

Glad to hear the collision wasn't serious. Skiers right of blue = Whoopee.

Similar close call on Whoopee but at the top just below the cut over from Reservoir Hill last weekend with the kiddo. All I heard was the edge scraping snow and then the guy goes flying by a few feet away as I'm looking downhill. Must have aired off the top or lost control, but he was moving. Looking forward to the mountain opening up more following this week.

I wonder if a W wind funnels up that slot where the weather station is that's just uphill of Ski Patrol
Skibowl shows a gust of 28 and Tline's gust today is only 48

Winds on Hood are fucking weird. I can recall going up MHX and there being pretty much no wind at all until you come over the rise at the top, and then it was full on nuclear. Also may times on Star where the wind was coming straight down the path of the lift.

I did something similar this weekend at Bachy on the 2nd lap down Outback. Came out of the trees hot, and had one of those split second decisions to make as there was a 5 foot drop to the cat track. I decided to hit the brakes but ended up scraping off a stump and out went the skis and me flying through the air, feet first. Landed on my left side into a pile of snow on the edge of the cat track. Two other skiers off to my right about 10 feet from where I augured in that also appeared to have done about the same thing as myself. No worse for where other than my pride being slightly dented as it happened by the chair lift. Getting too old for hits like that though.

Yeah, but did you do it on a green run after skiing past at least one SLOW sign while flying uncontrolled through the air past another SLOW sign?

I'm pretty sure I would have been headed to the hospital if he had hit me.

I missed this post. I saw chairs on the line this morning too. Mistake? Test?
