Two small tours with Radical Pro and the Gft and it's very promising. The heel hold is really quite remarkable, as I can skin with all the buckles open/loose. Ski performance is on another planet compared to a Intuition Tour Pro. GFT does not maybe have stiffer forward flex than the Tour Pro, but the heel fit makes all the difference. No need to crank the radical pro shell ankle strap to get a good heel hold.
@OttoP it will only get better plus the option of tinkering with more monkey spunk in the pockets

i dont kare i carnt spell or youse punktuation properlee, im on a skiing forum
Six tours total and I'm quite ready to get rid of the old Intuitions I've been keeping in the closet for a while.
By the way:
My version has a velcro strip on the back of the cuff for spoilers.
Saw some mentions about the lower gridlike structure being bad with ski/walk-mechanism of the Radical Pro's. This version seems to be different and there's no problems with the mechanism at all.
I’ve skied gara hv, free ride sidewinder, regular free ride, World Cup gara, and gft. I’d take any of them over any other liner. Aside from custom footbeds, zip fits are the most important piece of my kit. Way better than the atomic mimic, intuitions, anything else.
that being said, 1 gft makes your foot sweat and 2 the sidewinders add a lot of stiffness and 3 id take the leather lined options over the others if I had to choose. Other than that, they’re all relatively equal in my book.
Zipfit Gurus, I need help!
Ski a head raptor WCR 140S 27.5 sized down x2 for a nice snug fit. I have normal feet, and probably slightly skinny legs? I bought a gara LV one size up 28.5 as the 27.5 murdered my toes when I tried it on.
I’ve done 3 rounds of heating up/fitting and here is where I’m at:
1) to get the liner into the boot on foot, I need to warm up my liner and shell and FORCE it in.
2) to close the boot I have to CRANK it down on the lower 2 buckles, and then push the upper cuff together with my hands as I struggle to latch the buckles together and then CRANK those down as well.
3) at this point with the boot barely closed up, I flex the warm liner in the shell a bit and while I don’t have a specific paint point besides the top of my foot it just feels SUPER tight everywhere.
4) after 10 minutes of flexing and walking around my food is completely numb and starts to ache so I take off the boot.
I’m all for a little pain to get that magic zipfit lockdown but at this point I can’t fathom skiing more than one run before having to tear my boots off. Feels like it forcing things beyond what will be tolerable for the shell and foot I have.
Is this “normal” or should I consider the even lower volume liner the Corsa while I can still return the gara Lv’s.
Anyone have experience with one or the other (or both?) where it was this difficult/ painful to start?
Are you putting the zipfit on your foot then placing your foot + liner into the shell?
Or is the liner in the shell before you put your foot in?
Foot in liner first and lace up, then put in shell with a lot of struggle!
Rad, it sounds like you should go to the Corsa. The Gara LV is designed for pretty average fitting average lasted boots. Not a race fit 96mm shell. The cork has nowhere to move to so it won’t get better.
Searched the post, but couldn't find mych info...
Has anyone had success with a TLT or other lightweight, gaiter style boot with the GFT? Tried my GFTs in my Salomon S/Lab X-Alp and they were way too tight, and almost impossible to get on without wadding up the gaiter. Ok with sizing up a shell if need be, but want to be able to get the shell on without causing damage to the gaiter.
Assuming the ZGPT is the way to go, but would love to find a lighter shell with better ROM. Boots will be used exclusively for longer days in the BC, as I have a pair of XT130 LVs I use for more aggressive skiing.
I’ve used GFTs in current gen Atomic Backlands and TLT8s with great success. They really beef up the boots at the cost of just a little friction in the ROM. Getting them in is totally doable with the aid of a boot horn, and while holding up the liner to avoid bunching.
On the other hand, I couldn’t get them into the Salomon Mtn Summit for the life of me, even going up a shell size.
I've got the GFT with a tube of cork in my tongue and a tube in both heel pockets (1 total, half a tube each in the pockets per a liner). I have (what I think) is a very skinny lower leg. I ski off piste mostly in Utah and I can't say I'm the greatest skier.
I ski mostly inbounds (75%) and ski the hawx 130 ultra (98 last) XTD (touring) and the resort version.
In the resort version I find that I still am moving around quite a bit in my GFT and heel lock isn't there yet. I could always throw more and more cork at it to the tune of $15 a tube but I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and buy a gara too and be hopefully set for life. I find that I try and crank the top two buckles down I still have a bunch of range of motion of my lower leg.
Any comments on gara vs gft for fit?
Heel/foot lock is what I want the most. When I take the fit quiz it says go with Gara LV (less cork) but I feel if I did go Gara I'd want to go HV so I wouldn't have to throw tons of $15 tubes of cork at it. It'd probably take a few very painful ski sessions to get that cork moved around and comfortable though.
It's easy to say buy both but they are $500 liners!
Anyone else running through laces with GFT + Zero G combo? I'm on my third set already. I can't tell if it's the rivet on the instep, or simply just the clog/cuff junction rubbing on the liner. No laces isn't an option for me, since it helps keep my heel in a good spot while walking. Tape the rivet? Better laces?
I thought it was the river but I think the edge of the shell is super sharp. It definitely is chewing at my liner.
Anyone else put these in Zero Gs and have the boot boards explode pulling your feet out the first time?
Not even a zipfit thing, it’s happened to me w multiple liners, stock and intuition. Just email them, their warranty is great.Originally Posted by griffinmyers;[URL="tel:7027992"
Yah I would, but I'm pretty sure I'd just immediately smash whatever they sent back (unless the zeppas have materially changed).
Would like to find a slightly more durable approach...
Seems like a lil strip of duct tape on the top side across the crack is doing the trick.
I had the same problem/question in the other zipfit thread, some suggestions there. I dunno if it was a bad batch or something, but the replacement boot boards I got have been holding up well so far.
I screwed my zero G boot board through the heel so it wouldn’t shift around and subsequently, I haven’t broken mine. But I also don’t struggle to put my boots on.
Tried my zips in my old Hawx that I had ground down the heels of the bootboard on. Immediately broke the board pulling out.
Never pull out.
I know a few people mentioned a while back they were using GFT + Scarpa 4Quattro…
Any long-term comments on how it’s working for you, especially given how finicky that boot is and how shitty I’m sure it is to take liners in/out every time? Any breakage or issues it caused to the shell?
I’m thinking hard about this combo, since I’m struggling to get the heel hold I want, especially on the up with buckles undone to get max ROM.
