    Losing friends in rapid succession in different ways- cancer, accidents, booze/drugs/etc. I have lost 4 close friends to different things in 4 years - nothing like losing parents but this is a different thing. Forces you to ask yourself what you are going to do w the tile you have left.

    Also, being able to spot people who have not had life kick their ass yet, and think « good for them » rather than »you just wait, pal- it’s coming… »

    One way I’ve measured my aging is how I go to more memorials than weddings…a lot more.

    As Mick Jagger said- Tile is on my side.

    I prefer the small subway style interspersed with glass tiles for backsplashes. Go with a tileless design that will never go out of style. Trendy is costly in kitchens.
