I'd totally add in Black Mountain of Maine to check out your handiwork cat. I'd also like to ski at Camden Snowbowl on a clear day to ski with those ocean views. The town looks beautiful too. I've never skied Magic in Vt. either. Damn I wish I got an extra month or two of work in last season.

Rad! Thanks cat. I definitely want some stickers. You know I appreciate volunteer efforts! There's a possibility that if I lock into this contract for a quick spring gig I may be able to make it happen. It's not a big job or anything but it would be just enough to justify a little spending on myself.

Late February or early March feels appropriate to me.

    The soup of course!

I’m always happy to share a good bowl of chowder at Saddleback or da ‘Loaf.

    But seriously…

Lock your wife and your dog in the trunk of the car.
    Open it in three hours.
    Who's happy to see you?

    Does that answer the why?
wait, real friends tolerate near-suffocating betrayal?

A rip down Thunderbolt and a skin up to Tucks would be cool. I could easily turn back and simply ski the Sherburne if conditions look dicey.

A story for some sort of publication about old ski bums that left the east to ski out west 30-40 years ago return back east during a record breaking year seeking the soul of east coast skiing would be sick. I wonder if someone with a small budget might be interested in putting that together? I'd pose and/or write for adventure.

My place is pretty close to the Camden Snowbowl and welcome to stay and ski the view.

Word is The Ski Journal will have an article about our gladding at Black Mountain of Maine in the next issue.

It sure would be cool to get a whole posse of you folks back

I can't speak for TFW but I'd personally kill for an all-time day at Plattekill and MRG. I miss those places but planning a trip out east for skiing from out here rarely makes any sense.
there are those rare periods where parts of NE have the most fresh snow in the country (like feb '15).
you know your ski areas for all-time days!
about to open platty tomorrow with hopes for a couple of those in '24.

We are off to a totally average start. It’s had good days and bad like every season. Every day i get to ski is a good day, how deep or soft the snowpack is by the grace of dog. Even in the worst winter there’s usually a really good day or two.

Fortunately a lot of terrain is good in thin conditions and mount washington and other bc always fills in eventually.

it’s not though like you can buy a ticket east at any point in the future and have a zero percent chance of something catastrophic happening in the mountains but these pages will get some good pics virtually every week, by someone in the right place, somewhere.

    or so i tell myself.

we had the warmest november ever in quebec and a good ten day stretch and now it’s classic east coast ice.

still looking forward to riding a 350’ hill tomorrow with danmelon.

If any of you Westerners want a house to stay in for Feb/March, you can housesit for us… Mrs. single and I will be out West.

Acadia National Park is real quiet in Winter and only 3 hours to skiing! Camden Snow Bowl is just over an hour.

I am curious where the intel for a record breaking Winter in the East is coming from??? I’m always hopeful but skiing in the East is becoming an emotionally abusive relationship for me… hard for me to trust when I’ve been hurt so many times.

Oh, great… now I’m gonna cry. You bitch Skadi! I think we need to be able to start seeing other people

It turns out we are doing quite better than average, even with the front end liquid. Luckily the back end of the storms have allowed the base to continue to grow. https://matthewparrilla.com/mansfield-stake/

I sure hope it continues Sun/Mon, although I'm not as confident as I have the last few weeks.

IDK to me it just seems average in that we always have good days and bad. A run of two good weekends is nice, but is it unusual? We will have a setback this weekend and then see what it looks like after. Above average to me means 4-8 weeks of temps that don't break freezing with consistent even if small amounts of snow. That's when it gets good or above average.

Anyway, we have very little snow in the Laurentians and I am not stoked for a warmup.

ETA: 22cm on the season at Mont Albert..... 9". I thought they were way ahead of that.

Ping me if you come this way.
    Last Thursday.
I think Xmas week will be good because I am going west. To the beach.
If you really want it to snow, take off your snow tires and wash your rig.

Seems like you all are having a winter worth skiing the east...
Haven't skied the east since '76 when I moved to Salt Lake.
Love to trade some driveway parking and skiing with mags for a spot in my driveway and / or house a mile up the LCC and some local mags to ski with.

Won't comment on the Mt. Washington lemmings.
You cooked that great meal for us (Flowing Alpy and son, Dibs and Djongo and me) in April 22 after we skied Alta. You can park in my driveway or stay in my house, depending if my kid is back in school, although other mags can probably offer space much closer to the mountains. I'm 80 minutes to Stratton and 2 hours to Killington. I will check with my Killington buddies that live near the mountain to see if they have driveway space available. I'm available to ski with you no matter where you park.

    nakedness is hot, absent clothes.
nudity is like a nudist colony...ie. why no clothes??
