She needs more cheeseburgers! Hopefully a few days at chez Joey and she can get some meat back on those ribs. We salute you, sir.

Lol. Believe me, I’d love to feed her a couple steaks. Gotta put the weight back on slow according to the vet I videoed with yesterday. 4 meals a day, each fairly small and just get her tummy back used to proper food. She’s probably 65-70 pounds now and I’m judging 20 pounds underweight. She’s a big powerful girl.

Good on ya, SoVTJoey. My little sister has fostered & adopted pitties for years from very unfortunate circumstances (dog fighting ring bait dogs, illegal breeders, etc). They have been the best dogs. Nothing better than to see them find a loving home after a hard life.

No, Willie is a rescue. He's likely a Hound and Husky or Shepard mix.
Regardless, he's been awesome for going on 12 years.

I’ll say that these dogs are amazing. They are definitely very misunderstood but still take a tremendous amount of discipline and a strong authority. After they understand the chain of command and who the boss is, the trust, loyalty and friendship they provide in return is like no other breed.

there is a reason the kings of England developed them and treated them as royalty and part of the family. They were bred to hunt boar in the kings forest and protect the royal family.
She's chillin like a villain. Looks like she found a new home and a good scene. +1

    Doggie stoke

A+ work Joey! I highly commend your actions! Grace looks like a sweet girl. It just infuriates me how poorly some people treat dogs. If you make a trip west this winter, I’ll comp you a day of skiing at Alta.

Edit: Forgot about your ullr post. I’ll comp your lady to.

I made a comment on the post that I could give her a place until we figured out a long term or that I could possibly be the long term.

Grace, as it seems a suitable name, is just relaxing and decompressing. She’s thankful for her sponge bath, some food and water, and some love.
Aww, bless you for giving that sweet stray a safe place to be

Rice and poached chicken breast? If yoy use the leftover poaching liquid to make the rice, it's the bomb. That's my experience as approved by my vet for when my dog gets the pukies and the runs and needs a reset or just generally coaxed into eating or pampered for no reason. I know, different issue.

That’s a healthy looking pit. She doesn’t need to put on weight. You could always see the ribs on my pit or any other short haired dog I’ve owned and kept active.

I totally agree with seeing the ribs. The last two were always like that. This big baby princess is definitely real skinny. Like 15 pounds. To the point that when she is walking around it’s pretty sad looking. She’s 65 pounds as of today, healthy weight with muscle mass and some meat on her, she will be 80-85. I’ve had some decent size pits, but only 55-70 pounds. Her neck measured at 20” today, lucky girl has a new collar coming.

on another note, I gave her a decent sponge bath the other day when I got her. She was pretty dirty from her time in the woods and where else she roamed. I also didn’t want to stress her giving her a full bath. Well today, after she showed interest in getting in the shower when I was in there, she decided to hop in with me and got a real good scrub. She’s really happy now. She pranced for 10 minutes after showing her self off to me. She’s a character that’s for sure.
