East Coast Roll Call 23/24_The Guns Are Blowing

Day 1 at Okemo today. Left at the crack of noon and was at the top by 1:00. One way down and it was scraped pretty bad with some irregular soft piles here and there.

Anyone going to ESAW? I have not attended since prior to Covid (yeah I know it’s only been online). Used to be a great way to get my head back in the game. The only speaker that draws me is Brody Leven, although certainly others could be good. Usually it was earlier in the season, but now I think I would rather burn a ticket skiing.

classic east coast over-reporting of snowfall totals; it's essential that they start padding their stats with bonus inches in the fall to really drive their end of season values. can't just drop a fake 10" bomb on people when they're actually paying attention mid-season, this is some really seasoned-pro textbook type work by the marketing teams here. throw in a little boost from early season snowmaking action and you've got yourself an above-average year. honestly not even mad, I'm impressed, nice work.

We got about 7" of glop at the Base o Magic overnight. It was raining lightly when I got up and by the time I tried to blow it off my driveway, it was full-on slush. Like the kind when you step on it, it's white but your footprint is a clearish grey. Base builder I guess.

Great video. Tree skiing in New England with fresh powder and frozen waterfalls. It doesn't get much better.

My first day of the season was a beauty. Smuggs opened today with blue skies, little wind, and minimal crowds (except for the dozen foreign tourists on rental gear who each required a ride in the ‘boggan just to get to the base).

the funy thing is people mock what they can not do.

    small business saturday special.

100 dollar to anyone who can post 10 link dolphin turns by end of day sunday. The ultimate troll would be taking my money, but you have to understand skiing to do it.
