Do you know which year they change the profile on the Protest?

(Tangential: GPO--Keith changed the profile once and then went back to the original.)

I had heard pf the change sometime in the last year. These are the first comparison pics ive seen. I loved the last model but im betting the added splay will be even better

Thank you. I have an old pair of 196 (12 years old?) flex 3 and ordered a new pair of 187 flex 4 for 23/24/

New rocker in a -1cm build with a HH core could also be sweet

Mine were great w the 3 flex but i thought 4 would be the sweet spot as well. Cant wait to hear more reviews on the newest design

I snagged an older pair of 192/4 Flex Protests earlier in the season and have a few days out on them. Right now, my next widest skis are the Enforcer 115 Free’s. I rode my Protests mounted on the dimple, and like many others here it seems, experienced a bit of tip dive…Surprisingly more tip dive than my E115’s mounted on the line. The Protests are on some Warden demos so I’ll move them back and see how it goes from there. Other than that, they’re super fun for charging 3D variable snow during/after a storm. My initial reaction is that they’re maybe a little overkill for Utah snow, BUT I think they’ll be perfect when I make the move back to Oregon. I’m really interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on the new model. Those side-by-side pictures definitely make it seem like the new ones won’t have as much tip dive as the old ones.

Keep in mind the positive ramp delta on warden demos is not going to translate well to most any standard binding if you want to remount.

What is the fwd lean on your boots? At the dimple you meed to be really centered in your weight, more instep than ball of foot. I run an 11 deg boot and ski mine at -1.5, well -1.75 to be exact, science was involved…
Mount yours back and give them another rip, esp if you haven’t been on this type of shape before.
    Protests rule!

My particular pair was mounted at least once before so I don’t plan on swapping out the demos on these puppies. But just out of curiosity, positive ramp delta = toe lower than the heel, correct? I know that’s the case with the STH2’s (at least more so than most other bindings) and I’m so used to STH2’s it’s awkward feeling when I’m on anything else. I hated the flat feeling of the pivots when I tried them this season (crazy, I know). Do the Warden demos have a similar delta to the STH2s?

I think of positive binding delta as toe higher than heel. It has the effect of decreasing forward lean.

I don’t think sth is toe high
I know pivots are flat or negative depending on afd type.

I ski 192 protests at -1.75 with pivots.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

What is it about the new rocker profile that has people here saying they might be more conducive to mounting on or closer to dimple?

Praxis Protest..just how cool is it?

Unpopular opinion, but I didn’t really like my Protests (or Powder Boards). Both older designs (2nd version of protest and 2nd (pre-spoon) version of powderboards.

I always fought with tip dive. I think they are a better ski for very light density powder (like Utah) where you are in the snow anyways so you don’t really worry about being on top of the snow or getting thrown forward. As well as steep terrain.

Heavy PNW Pow and Sierra cement, and low angle terrain- I MUCH prefer a more pintailed ski like my 17’ Cease and Desists (or any BG model) or my Lhasa Pow Fats. I want my tails to sink in more than my tips, and a big fat tip to be supportive of driving the shovel of the ski more or if I get thrown forward on landings.

That being said, I do really like my Praxis/PM Gear Kusalas which haves similar profile to Protests. Can’t remember feeling much too dive ever with them this season.

Maybe because the Kusala’s are stiffer (5++ flex vs the 3+ and 4 flex protests I had)? I think I’m -1 on the Kusalas which is about the same as the Protest too.
I did mostly ski them in lighter density storms though this year.

I agree with this take. The protest shines in light and deep and particularly first tracks, the goats smash maritime mank and once it’s all chop.

Custom Protests showed up today. Couldn't be happier with the work Keith did on these.

So whats the consensus on mount point with the new rocker profile? Still -1.5 back? Or might the increased tip rocker solve some of the tip dive people have mentioned and allow for something closer to dimple?

I’m wondering about it too. My wife has a pair of the new ones and she is on the dot. Generally I bump everything she skis ahead 1 cm.

Do they just have added tip rocker and splay or do the tails also have that treatment? I'd guess yoj could get to the dimple or closer if its just the tip that got a massageee

I am not sure how they compare to the older rocker profile as I have never skied them (older ones). I tried my best to capture the new profile in these photos.
