Well, I couldn’t resist a little rainy day experimenting. Having scored great 176’s, i could afford to take a chance on toying with my 186’s, which are on the 4th or 5th mount, and are too long to fit in my packraft for silly boat supported outings. Also, my mount was -1 and i had to go up a size in my boots.
So! I cut off 8cm of tail, remounted at +2, and trimmed up the skins with new tip hardware. Boom, I’ve got 178 BMT94’s, with a longer radius than 176’s, and a spry +2 mount. And they are so beat that i can ski them with reckless abandon (the ultimate luxury) and fire up the 176’s whenever these are completely toast.
