Wait, it would be even darker if we observed DST in the winter.

Permanent DST has already been tried, back in 1974. It got quickly reversed, mainly because parents didn’t like having their kids walk to the bus stop in the dark on winter mornings.

The week after clock change is always fun at work. Large portion of our teams are in India. The meeting calendar causes all kinds of confusion.

I’m not sure what you’re intent is. Yes it would be darker on winter mornings with permanent DST. It would probably delay ski area operations by an hour.

I don’t want a time change so permanent PST is fine by me

Just meet in the middle and set the clocks at Standard Time + 0:30 permanently. That should solve this debate and make things simple for everyone!

Yes, but in my post I was advocating for keeping the status quo so I wasn't sure what you were getting at.

My rationale is I'm fairly confident more people are active in the evening hours in summer than early mornings. I think more people are awake and active at 9 pm than 5 am. In the winter the early sunsets suck, but I agree it's probably better than having everyone going to work and kids going to school in the pitch black.

If we keep turning back the clock maybe we can get back to 1963?

In WA it would still be light at 2100 in the summer

    EST is hudge.
Grew up as far west as you can get. Sunsets at almost 10pm.
Now I’m almost as east as you can get. Fuck this standard time shit. I want daylight after work. Fuck those kids waiting for the school bus. Drag your ass out of bed and get out. It’s life training.

Yes, and it would also be light at 4 am. I'm almost certain more people are active in the evenings than that time of the morning.

Right? Such a fucking stupid argument and I am sick of the changes.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Why do we ven have time zones? We should do like China and just make the whole country the same time. Which doesn't change twice a year.

Everyone over here is up and active early during the summer. I’m not almost certain, I’m certain.

Come on, man, You can't honestly say more people are active at 4 am than at 9 pm. That's absurd.

yeah, the only people who think 4am is busy are people with little experience at 4am. It’s dead. 6am is when things start rolling, 30 minutes past bar closing to then is dead.

Well, the wife texting me this morning and came back from walking the dog to a wide open garage door. Apparently I forgot to close it when I left for work this morning. Luckily I live in a pretty good neighborhood, and they didn't steal the $10k worth of rec equipment in the garage. Not to mention a few grand in guns in the gun safe. I'm for getting rid of daylight savings. Not to mention I am not doing a good jog of explaining it to my dog, who is wondering why his breakfast was an hour late.

Yes, I am saying that. I get out early and people are going to work, cars at the trailhead, folks running, walking and biking around town. This is at 0430-0500 on weekdays and weekends.

Most people are in relaxation mode by 2100, they might be out and about but they don’t need more sunshine.
