Buckley I don’t think you can go wrong either way. A lot of people ski their big Wildcats more than they initially intended. The 108 should be more versatile in theory though. I’m testing that theory this season.

I daily drove the Wildcat 118s at Palisades one year a while back, or well skied most of my days on them(by far) that season, and I had an absolute blast!

I had thinner, high performance skis, and it wasn’t a big snow year. I even had PB&Js(like Wildcat 101). I just kept grabbing the WC118s, no matter what. I had more fun on them almost everywhere, and they were always reliable/predictable. The big cat is remarkably versatile in Tahoe.

This season I went Wildcat 108s and a little voice inside me keeps saying “sell them and buy 118s!”. However at this point I think I should just sell half my quiver and then have all three Cats, the 101, 108 and 118.

I've posted these thoughts a few times - I have both the WC108 and the WC both in 184 length. They're both excellent skis. While they have a lot of overlap, I don't necessarily think one is a replacement for the other.

I really learned to ski on the WC108 and it was my only ski for about a season - love them. They're fun and intuitive, easy to ski moderately on but still have plenty of backbone. They're exactly what I want out of an everyday ski - I've been on them in plenty of deeper days, hardpack, and average softer Sierra conditions. Skiing in the Sierra they don't necessarily float when it's deep out, but I think they're awesome in anything short of super heavy and super deep. This would be my one ski quiver if I had the self control to only own one pair of skis.

But, I've found that buying skis is so much cheaper than bikes so...I bought a used pair of WCs the following season. The WCs were immediately familiar. The WC needs more speed to come alive if it's at all firm, but they also cruise through roughed up and 3d snow better than the 108s. They are still easy to ski, but you have to put a bit more energy into them than the 108s. The WCs float more than the 108s but obviously nothing like a dedicated pow ski - but that's kind of the point in my eyes. The WC is still great for the entirety of a resort pow day from the first laps to end of day chop.

The WCs that I bought had been retuned to 1* base / 1.5* side. Really preferred that and ended up retuning my WC108 to that and like them even more now. All the skis from 22/23 onwards now come that way from the factory I believe. Previously they were 1:1.

It's a tough choice because the skis are so similar. If you already have a 100-110 ski that you like and want to split the daily driver activity then I think the WC116/118 is the way to go.

What makes the big cat versatile in Tahoe? Also wondering how Tahoe/Sierra snow plays into this.

Tahoe off-piste gets funky, and I see a lot of people on wider skis when the snow is not fresh. Still more people are on thinner skis, and it really comes down to your preference.

I want to mention again I haven't skied the WC 108s yet, and that the PBJs were super versatile as well, so the 108s could actually be more versatile for me. I don't think they will be, but I won't be surprised if they are.

Big cats and their longer radius ski very well in Sierra cement, of any depth, with or without crusts on top or layered within. I prefer other skis in fluffy, dry powder, but WC118 still work great in fluff, and I only ski that stuff a few times per season here in Tahoe. Resort powder days are covered with fat Cat.

In Tahoe we don't get the worst ice in the world, and the big Cats have enough edge grip and all mountain ability for all but the most low tide days IMO. At Palisades specifically, I find more of the "coral reef" variety of refrozen off piste snow.. and for that crap, I definitely like a wider ski with a long radius and a lot of rocker, but still extremely predictable, a la Wildcat. Either that or a leviathan like Head Monster 108 or Dynastar Pro Rider to obliterate that crud, whereas the Wildcats just predictably jump and surf around it. But I love Wildcats in weird snow as much as Pro Riders, they just require a much different style.

I love my Blizzard Bodacious, cold dead hands ski, however the Wildcat 118 feels much more like an all mountain ski even though they are both the same width. Big Cats ski more like a 110mm ski for me, and I've heard a lot of other say the same thing. It's even kind of written within Moments description of the ski, how you might see people skiing it everyday of the season.

Thanks for the info! How do you determine whether to take out the fat cats or the 108s for the day? Where do you normally ski?

Also have you tried skiing the 190s? I'm 6'2" 170lbs and Moment's size chart says 190 for advanced charger vs 184 for advanced charger. I'm leaning towards the 190s.

At 6'2" you want the 190 of any width cat or DW.

I skied the 184 wildcat for a couple of years before switching to the 190. At 184 it was my favorite ski ever, and at 190 it was my favorite ski ever. I’m 6’8” tall, 195 lbs. The differences are consistent with what you read in the Blister reviews, but not as night and day as they might, at times, infer. I was equally satisfied by both options.

5'11, 175-180, athletic build. Mostly ski Mammoth. I like the 184, haven't tried the 190.

Soft but no fresh - 108.
    Couple inches - 108.
    6+ inches - WC.
If it's bottomless I've been skiing Lotus 138s...but if things track out or it's not snowing all day then a trip back to the car is in the cards. WCs just work all day long.

Last year my answer to all of those was just 184 WC. I think the 184 WC is so versatile that you can break it out on more days than you'd expect. 6'0, 175 and my Mindbender 108s got a lot less use last year than the year before.

Hear that a lot I think the 184 is too small for me tho - I'm 6'2" 170lbs. My Declivitys are 188 and it probably has more edge on snow than the 190 WC with big rocker.

And since I ski 30 days a year, tops, that'd probably mean 5 days of 6+ inch snow? Me thinks the 190 WC108 is a nice middle ground for me right now and I can add the big cat later. Thanks for the help y'all!

Anyone holding DW 104s in 184 you’d consider selling? DW104 curious but not at retail and skiburger no go for the 184.

Mine lol. I’m almost positive the 10/31 will include a GT so I decided to catch and release this OG pair.

Also, any thoughts on $500 for mint 2015 Blister Pros w/2022 Marker Griffons? Looking for something a little more pow oriented than the DW but still versatile. There much difference in floatation between the two?

I'm holding steady with this guess.
