I hope the eventual owner of my XC70 T6 that Carmax bought replaced the slipping awd angle gear.

Hat tip to Bobby Stainless for telling me to offload it there.

Extra bonus was that I found my old allroad at the Audi dealer next door 15 minutes later.

Have you considered the benefits of fractional ownership in a brown manual diesel wagon?
Speaking as the former owner of an 03 Suburban, I would most definitely not recommend one unless it was single-owner from someone you knew and trusted. The best thing that happened to mine was a deer running into the side of it and Geico cutting me a check for $2300 for the damage; it just about covered that year's mechanical fixes.

In keeping with the spirit of the tgr forms, I humbly propose that danno consider 2 vehicles instead of just 1.

In my mind, he'd keep his sequoia and get a nice sporty (economical) second vehicle to run around town in and keep miles off his heavy hauler that he'll use exclusively for manly truck jobs.

What's a good, affordable, sporty car that danno could add to the stable? Miata? Solstice? Other???

Well I think we just covered this - obviously it’s a fiat 500.

That was easy who’s next ?

    Haha

Actually a BRZ/FRS/GT86 is a great, fun, efficient and sporty daily ride if you don't HAVE to have AWD and you can fit skis up to about 190 inside (if you're creative).

The bank usually pays the dealer a spiff of between 1% and 3% of the amount financed. That’s a nice little margin for pushing some paper. If there’s no early payoff penalty you might consider just quietly going with their financing and refinancing it with your bank or credit union later. Everything is smoother if everybody is happy. If you do it within 90 days they’ll usually have to give back their fee (dealer reserve), per most indirect financing contracts between financial institutions and dealers.
    focus.

That’s how I’m rolling these days. Maybe not an economic second vehicle, but an old 4Runner for bad backwoods roads and conditions and hauling, and an Audi for everyday and road trips. It works for me.

Here you go Danno, no telling how much freeheel gear you can slap in this thing.

    Way under budget too.

Yep. Same here as MS knows. We need the old 4R to tow the ski boat and haul and it is nice for deer hunting and gear heavy trips. Mostly, it is a garage queen, while we bang around in our much cheaper to operate Prius and (in theory and so far) Alltrack wagons.

We could upgrade from our 03 4R to a 23 but we would just get shiny metal and the same thing minus awd in 4wd, but lose 50k. You can do hella maintenance for way less.

The disadvantage is we have old Michelins on the 4R that are weather checked and not yet completely worn out, but mostly used up, so we're losing fractionally on not using up our investment and the extra insurance (not much).

I'd keep the 06 and get a brand new hybrid Rav4 to beater around in.

Or get the all new Sequoia, which is actually arguably an upgrade.

Why do people swap in those headlights. They look stupid as fuck, last about a half hour before there's a pint of water in them, and provide as much light output as a birthday candle.

The entire Chinese LED headlight market is a modern example of fools and their money.

Son of a bitch. I just clicked on that link and now I'm knee deep into BaT. FFS I was hoping to get some work done today.

Well Danno. If you can stretch the budget a bit here's one. And you can get a bump on GOTOS thread with it.

In the comments, the pacman guy admits to being into that truck for over $250k

Also, his middle school aged son is apparently smarter than him.

Lol. Buddy had one of those in college. Surprisingly good off road.

That is so on-brand for that truck and the people that own them.

No thanks! I had a Frontier double cab with a 6' bed and it was awful; that thing probably makes the Frontier seem like a sports car. I want to at least have the *chance* of pulling into a parking spot in one move!

There's a few in the drop off line when I walk the midgets to school in the morning. Inevitably I've seen more than one kid unable to get out of it and plummet to the pavement with enough force to dislodge teeth. They always seem to be driven by dads with bedazzled jeans who are at least 60 pounds overweight and haven't been able to see their penis since Clinton was in office. I've always been in too much of a hurry to stop and ask how many extra turns they needed on the drivers side front coilover to offset their fat ass.
