Prices would be about the same as Bham too. Also, youd be 10 minutes from Seatac for easy flights, where in Bham your only options are regional flights or driving a few hours to a real airport.
    Streamboat to Renton?

At least there are plenty of payday loan shops if you can’t make your Boost mobile payment.

If the grey and wet isn't an issue, why not cast a wider net and consider the benefits of Upstate New York?

Plenty of ladies in Montreal if you're looking for a weekend escape.

Is bellingham really any better? Renton is no Lake City now hahaha

OP, have you thought about Boise, ID? Large population center with airport, single women, lots of sun, and a number of ski areas close by (Bogus Basin is only 30 mins). If you miss the steamboat vibe, you can head a few hours over to Sun Valley

Probably not much better but 2hrs to Vancouver and 3.5 to Whistler is a dam good reason.

Yeah I wasn’t sure if it was time to insert some Renton memes.

Anyways I have family in Bend and Bellingham, have lived in both and spent a lot of time in both. For me bham >>> bend. But I like Canada access. If you’re harboring racist feelings about Canadians, this may not be a plus.

You should price out a pods for moving your stuff compared to uhaul.
Funny, my job is based in Bend and they would be ecstatic if I moved there. I go there twice a year to visit work, and I'm not really that excited about the place. It seems very... family friendly. Soft mountain bike trails, giggle skiing, etc. Definitely sunnier than Seattle/Bham though.

Summer Canada access is one of the biggest perks for me. I would probably spend weeks-months up in Squamish/Whistler remoting into work and mountain biking.

Better mtn biking at the ham. I’m about to go to Bend for the 5th time this year, will bring the bike and do the usual billion miles of boring singletrack. Bachelor bike park is pretty good though in the summer.

N Cascades was my learning ground for alpine climbing/mtneering, exposed me to terrain far more interesting than my hometown of Bend. If I were a big sport climber I’d feel differently…although Squamish is cool esp if you own a van

What's a remote working while mtn biking job paying these days?

    I'm interested.

Bellingham has always been one of my "never-even-visited-but" dream destinations. It seems to be a good mix of midsized college town culture and good access to lots of types of outdoor activities. I'll be eager to know how you like it.

I will say, my one worry (from afar) is the cloudiness. I currently live in the desert and have gotten spoiled with so much sun. I don't think that I'd really have too much trouble as I tend to get out in pretty much all weather, but I would worry about my wife who is less likely to go out when it's dreary. On the other hand, when doing research on the area, I found that I grew up in one of the least sunny places in the US (west central PA) without even knowing it. So maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

You're not the only local leaving the Yampa Valley these days, the changes have been happening quick. Good luck with the move dude.

Bend and Steamboat have a lot more in common imo than steamboat and bham. I find the bashing on bend from a steamboater quite amusing.

Good luck with your decision. My advice is just do it. Whatever that ends up being

Plus if you leave before winter sets in, you'll miss the major shit show that is about to ensue with all the new shit Alterra did here. Won't leave as bad of taste in your mouth maybe. I doubt this year will be as good as last.

Oh my bashing on Bend didn't preclude any Steamboat commentary. I agree with your comparison statement. Steamboat is equally family-friendly (especially the skiing). The biking is way better though.

Seems like it'd be hard to top last year. And yeah with all the new changes, I wouldn't even be that upset about not skiing this season (although I'd almost certainly come back and stay with friends for a week or two).

What - with the new lifts and terrain? What else did they do?

I moved to Western WA from Southwest PA and it wasn’t that bad. Met my wife about 6 months into her move here from Phoenix, let’s just say it was very rough for her. After about 5 years I noticed she was doing better, or at least complaining less.
