Looks like she had a more awesome life than most anyone. Thank you for being such a good friend to Etta.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Whoo, man. Just trying to catch my breath here.
That's a great tribute to a life well lived, snoq.
What a beautiful pup and she lived the dream, it's the best you could offer.
So hard to take them from babies to elders and watch the cycle complete itself.
She lives in your memories and love dude, she's never too far away.

RIP Etta, and my sincere condolences Snoqpass; what an incredible life you shared with her.
I still call it The Jake.
Etta was a beauty and lucky to have you as her person. I'm so sorry.
Sorry snoqpass. I'm glad to have met Etta.

Sorry to hear that, sounds like an awesome dog.
Our 14 month old lab is having a total meltdown from the fireworks. We had no idea this was going to happen and don't have anything to calm her down. This poor dog![]()
Have a crate? That might help

Make a little den / cocoon in a closet or under a table for them. Buy a thundershirt for next year (I was skeptical, but they work)

Aw shit snoqpass, my sincere condolences man. What lucky dogs both you and Etta were to have each other all those years. What a beautiful dog, what a beautiful life. Take care.

This is OUR mountain - come join us!
Thanks guys. We looked around and didn't really have the right stuff in the house but I did have an open bottle of red wine. I know she like beer because she'll walk up to a glass accidentally left on the table and start drinking so I figured maybe... She took right to it (proving she really is my dog) and a few minutes later was all calmed down and snuggled in our bed.
Red wine is probably not something I’d try again. Alcohol is bad for dogs, apparently. And grapes are a big no no too.
Glad your pup was able to settle down though. Fortunately, this morning’s thunderstorm is the worst thing our sensitive dog has had to endure these last few days.
focus.
It only took a half ounce or so, less than half a shot glass. I figured a super strong 60 pound dog would be ok with it this time. She literally calmed right down, stopped shaking and panting and slept well even though people didn't finish shooting shit off until after midnight. We're going to get some of the proper solutions knowing what we know now.
We used to feed our dog frozen grapes. She loved ‘em until we wised up. She doesn’t seem the worse for wear, but I worry that we might have caused some kidney damage that becomes a problem later.
She’s got a bad heart that will probably be a problem first, unfortunately.

Toast up to this king who passed on today. If you’re in the SLC area you may have met him through Intermountain Therapy Animals handled by my legend of a mother. Through the U of U burn wards, spinal injury wards, Pingree, READ program, and I don’t know how many others he has been a light to so many in some dark times. Eleven and a half years of life and seven years of therapy work, this gentleman has earned his rest. Sleep well, Benno, ThornCreeks Mr Bennett (GCH Beowulf av Hiselfoss x GCH Bente)
