As often happens, consistency and quality went down as Oh Mai expanded. I've never gotten over Saigon Sandwich closing and Pho 33 moving to SSL.
I had a biz lunch on Monday at Indochine, that didn't suck one bit.

Sounds like some teasers for bar Nohm coming up this weekend. From what I’ve heard they are turning it into a bar, combining (allegedly) with water witch somehow. As long as they bring back their spicy rice cakes and pork belly.

I will +1 santo tacos. Also got pleiku and although they don’t have the variety of oh mai damn they are quite tasty

Found a rare oasis in the Park City food desert.
Leonardo’s Market in Kimball Junction has a small restaurant in the back. The place is super clean and food is legit.
I had quesabirrias and kept thinking to myself, “damn that was good” for the rest of the day. Not really a food photographer but took one this time.

Off topic, but I think this is a good spot...anyone looking for a single Death Cab For Cutie ticket for Friday? Or any of your friends? I have an extra. Face value plus a few bucks for whatever they charge. I think it was $25.00.

Went to Root'd on Bengal. Since I'm glutarded they were kind enough to deconstruct their Ruben for me and serve it on a pile of their excellent fries. So bomb, should be on the menu.

Noticing more and more “everyday” grocery stores deleting the butcher/meat counter and only selling soggy liquid infused shit.
So the world is filled with tubular entities. Food goes in one end and shit comes out the other. Sperm goes in and babies come out.
Looking for a great spot for an anniversary dinner. Arlo? Oquirrh? Any other ideas?
Went to Red Fort in Layton today, some of the best Indian I've had in Utah.

I finally ate at the rest recently and really enjoyed it, and Franklin Ave has been high on my list of need to get back to, atmosphere in both was nice enough for an anniversary imo

Blast from the past, but we had a really, really good lunch at Tsunami on 900. I hadn’t been there in like 20 years. The bento box was totally dope, steak and tuna, fried stuff, super good.

So, what’s all of the hubbub about Banburry Cross donuts?
My wife was all psyched on them (which is funny, as I rarely EVER see her eat a donut).
I just thought “OK, it’s an acceptable donut”.

Utah, so sweets? see crumbl, Fizz drinks, 8 trillion ice cream places, etc.

Banbury makes good donuts for sure. Fresh Donuts and Deli is most non-Mormons favorite place though and mine too and recently got rated as one of the best donut places in America. If you like back alley donuts go to Carols - RIP - not that it’s the best but it’s a unique location.
Heh, we ate (inside) at Arlo and had a pleasant, if albeit largely forgettable time. Highlights included the risotto and the fish and chips (both pictured), which, while delicious, will likely be forgotten by the time we celebrate our second anniversary. Maybe we just don't like new american joints? Next anniversary, it's table x or takashi or something else entirely.
+200 on the fresh donuts recc. WAAAAAAY better than Banbury Cross, and Banbury Cross isn't a bad donut, at all.

I have been trying to be less disparaging but I think that’s Salt Lake and Utah dining as a whole. Relatively small metro area, large conservative demographic, and at least some reliance on tourist dollars means playing it safe. You’re looking for a unique and refined experience and talking about having to spend $200+, it doesn’t have to be that way but here it is.
We are planning to go to Hell’s Backbone later this year, anyone been?
I love hells backbone grill. Truly gorgeous locale, and maybe it's just cause I'm usually starving around dinnertime when i am in the area, but i recall the food being pretty damn good. Talk about a great place to relax and let the kids run around...
sigless.
Someday I'd love to go there - whenever I'm around the area they are closed for the season though. They have a new chef this year so I'd guess it's a new experience now?
