Or is your only technique to monologue? Stop foreclosing the conversation by saying "no one want to talk about X topic" and then never posting anything about the topics you want to talk about.

Or just stop whining about it.
I've been saying a lot more than just no one wants to talk about it. I've been trying to talk about it. I directly responded to someone saying no pro 2a people want to do anything about any of these problems by saying I'd love to talk about solutions.

Unity. That is my solution. Whatever my favorite ideas are they don't mean shit if I'm the only one saying them. We have to form unity about things we can effect change about. If there is unity then change will happen. its not hand waving to say that being divided and fighting each other prevents this change, not at all. We imprison more people than any other democratic country, do so largely for profit, our banks all get caught laundering drug cartel money, etc etc etc, but they keep getting away with this stuff because we let them. We need unity to change that. I can't do it on my own.

Yet you perceive it as whining and want only to engage in outrage porn so you get your outrage dopamine?

The vast majority of violence in this country is tied to the drug trade. That is a fact.

A few pages back we debated the manipulation of stats it takes to show the 'children's' number one cause of death are firearms, and really they take some twisting. 1-19 year olds, not 0-18 or 0-19. Not trying to rehash that debate, as we did it, but only mentioning it because the #1 cause of death of 0-50 year olds is fentanyl. Opiods kill over 136 Americans every day. thats more than guns. https://www.bing.com/search?q=fentan...ANAB01&PC=HCTS

Seems like a situation we could effect meaningful change about, if not immediately, if we could form some sort of unity to demand such, no?

Honestly I do get the impression you guys just want to rageblame gun owners to cope because thats simple and reality is complex and because it removes you from any responsibility to take part in any solutions that aren't emotionally gratifying to you. prove me wrong? Pretty please? I would much rather prefer being proven wrong on this assessment than get off on being right or some shit.

Take a deep breath and count to ten slowly. Feeling you are a victim is a bad look and counter productive to thinking logically. Feeling you are the victim on TGR is like putting your hand over a candle and getting pissed at the candle for burning you. You aren't the first poster to go down this path.

Now I can't remember well enough to get more than 3 things from the market without a list and I haven't blocked you. I don't read your posts but I scan them. I have no real idea of what your positions are. Never leave your customers confused.

    Cliff notes please.

TBH, I think the biggest transformation (currently going on) is that criminals will get guns regardless of legislation, so why legislate.

Like I said, a work in progress.

    Are you ok?

One way to reduce addicts dying is to reduce the supply of fentanyl available.

One way to reduce death by gun is to reduce the supply of guns available.

Attack the cartels and disrupt their distribution/financial strengths.

Using available health data, make gun ads illegal for starters. No 2A issue there. Already legal precedent

The quickest and very easy way to stop Phent deaths is to make a pact with the Mexican govt. that we will stop exporting our guns in exchange for their chinese chem phent. Could be done very quickly.

Too much money involved though on both sides, so forgeddaboutit.

I’ve always assumed this was in reference to the federal background check - which certainly isn’t perfect, especially when there are record numbers of guns being sold…. But what’s the purpose of this law when you can avoid it completely….

The funny thing about that map… you always hear the 2A “Cold Dead Hands” crowd say “Gun laws don’t work, look at Chicago!” Well look at where Chicago is in that fucking map….

If I understand correctly, investigation and possibly prosecution of anyone attempting to buy a gun who gets rejected by three background check, for starters. I think there are also relatively low-level federal gun charges that rarely get bright standalone, even when a clear case could be made, because the prosecutors have bigger fish to fry and only so many resources.

While I generally agree with the first point (someone who is actively trying to get a gun but who can't as a matter of law seems like someone worth dealing with before they manage to fund a gun through other means), the second always seemed a little disingenuous to me unless they're also supporting legislation to provide prosecutors with additional resources.

Mass/school/tragic murders by gun are not going to be reduced any time soon because the reality is there is "NOTHING WE CAN DO". And since there is nothing we can do we will continue to do nothing.

If only there was something we could do...

    https://www.npr.org/2023/05/15/11761...0people%20dead.

Vucic said that approximately half of the arms collected since last week had been held illegally, while the other half were registered weapons that citizens nonetheless decided to part with. The relinquished weapons will go to Serbian arms and ammunition factories for potential use by the country's armed forces, the president said.
Serbia is estimated to be among the top countries in Europe in registered weapons per capita, and many more are held illegally.
Authorities launched the gun crackdown after a 13-year-old boy on May 3 took his father's gun and opened fire on his fellow-students in an elementary school in central Belgrade. A day later, a 20-year-old man used an automatic weapon to shoot randomly in a rural area south of Belgrade.
Other anti-gun measures announced by Vucic include stricter control of gun owners and shooting ranges. Police officials said gun owners must have a coded safe in which to store their registered weapons and that any guns not kept properly would be confiscated.
Let’s keep an eye on this space to see how it plays over time.
UK, Norway, Australia & NZ demonstrate examples of multiple-year results of after-the-fact firearm regulations that have worked to reduce community firearm violence.
