Wow, announcers with the callout. "47 out of 53 crashes at the Mammoth event were on Tyrollia bindings".

No, these events have Directors who dictate where all the cameras are placed, how drones/helis fly, and when to switch shots. They direct the look of the live event. Blame goes fully on the Director.

I pitched this exact thing to some networks when I was fresh out of film school in 2008. They let me in the door because of the “stakes” but no one got even close to biting because the audience is low.

i complain about the camera angles every year, and somehow every year they get worse.. if anyone from the FWT reads this thread.. please just give us a steady drone hovering a few hundred yards out from the face, looking directly at it so we can see how steep it is, far enough that we can see 1/3 of the venue in the frame at all times, and any exposure beneath the rider.. then just follow them down. just let us choose this feed when we're watching, and then on the other feed do all the super zoomed in, flippy spinny drone shot bullshit. a simple A-B button to switch feeds.

that was hilarious, especially given the fact that while he was saying it(or straight after that) some dude had a full ejection, they ran the replays and it was a Pivot.

I kinda enjoyed the event, I'm a big fan of Tenra Katsuno. I do feel like even though some of the wilder kids do throw down crazy shit unexpectedly the others still have pretty run-of-the-mill styles. It's like they're still quite young to show their own influences and personalitites through their skiing so they just repeat these "routines" (after those 65 no-grab 3s on that little cliff at the top i felt like going to sleep).

Quoted for truth. Can anyone send this to FWT?

Funny to see you check in here, with all of the drone talk I was literally going to say the FWT should hire you as a consultant. You actually know how to use them effectively in a way that really stood out to me (and many others) with Numinous.

Just dropping in to say that Numinous was fucking dope and FWT should should be paying attention to this thread and everything Atrain has to say… because you guys… FWT are dropping the the fucking ball.

You’ve got complete ownership over the tour/sport. You’ve just been acquired by FIS, and you still have 22yo kids flying drone races around your venues.

    Sad.

Some of the drone work on the recent natural selection was amazing. So good to see it from that angle. They had one chasing, and one (as mentioned above) as a catch all from the front of the face.

Does everyone know this is about to start. 25 minutes from now plus the nonsense.

I don't know. We're already 4 hours behind schedule. Surprised they haven't called it yet.

I like how they keep pushing back the cancellation.

Look at the sky. It’s grey. It’s going to be that way for a really long time.

I’m not better at reading weather than they are. And I appreciate their need to balance demands.

    But today is not happening.

And I was right. Should have said my opinion 3 hours ago.

I applaud their ability to hold off and wait. I'm glad they're not sending athletes down in flat light to meet a camera demand. This has always, more or less, been the case but I will continue to be stoked when they call it and walk away.

WX forecast doesn’t look good for the comp taking place. Rain and 40 degree temps for the next 7 days…

Maybe they will do a move, or perhaps double up the comp on the Bec.

Yeah, hopefully she's serious about skiing out of it.

On another note? Are they reading this thread? Camera work seems to be cleaner.

Quite the emotional roller-coaster today. Lots of ups and downs. Glad everyone is healthy, mostly. Definitely some bruised egos.

Am I right in hearing that the challenger event is next? I have to work for a couple of hours... but, wow. I hope so.

I liked Pollard's comment to Palm, "I like your vision, you're the future." yeah, all these kids under 25 are resetting the bar. Maybe they finally fell a few times, but the sport is changing. So cool.

The conditions are really poor in tirol. So the contest highlighted that.

    That looked very tricky.
Sometimes in those tricky conditions the fast skiing and bouncing off the tops of everything works.

Max almost pulled off a hell of a run.
Andrew made that look too easy.
