    armada arv, is it light?

ok so the ANTs are supposedly light for their size. Anyone know anything about the ARV? Also light? How might it compare to the short/soft Bro/Ho models?
I did a bit of a search but came up with squat.

ARV's are fairly light for their size, but nothing mind blowing. Completely different ski then the bro's baby bro.s
    1. ARV are full twin
    2. ARV's are much much softer (pocket rocket soft)
    3. ARV's have more sidecut.

What gives CD? You gonna start hitting the park to meet young women? Have you located a pair of baggy pants yet?

I think there was a pair at the shop I got the Ants at - you want me to go kick the tires?

    They are not PR soft.

    I've had PRs I hated.

ARVs do much better in junky snow.

Would be a good one ski (east coast w/ west trips) quiver ski.

I work on campus, lots of young women, to look at at least
Yeah you want to weigh a short (175) pair for me?
I'm thinking of something just a little wider and burlier than carbon surfs, something 90 - 95 underfoot but hopefully still 3.4kgs or less at 175 - 180. Is that too much to ask?
I like the sound of the Ho model skis, but since I have too many skis already and they were all $250 or less springing for $550 would be out of character. Hmmmm.

the ARVs are soft. not quite pocket rocket noodle soft, but definitely close. i'd say the 185 ARV weighs the same as the 179 seth vicious. nothing overly light, but not a tank by any means.

Anyone who would equate an ARV to a Pocket Rocket probably hasn't skied them. They are a million times damper and a fair bit stiffer as well. Next year's ARV's are even a bit stiffer. They are also pretty light for a wood core/sidewall ski.

I'm curious, because my stomps are too soft.

Anybody know how these two compare other than weight? Similar flex to the 1st Gen Pistols maybe? I'm guessing the turning radius is about equal given the dimensions, correct? How quick are they side to side?

ARV no-worky in the search function so this is the closest I could find. Maybe Endre could add these to his bitchin-camero flex chart? That would be bueno. This chart is pretty damn cool by the way: http://www.endrehals.no/Flexcurves%202007.pdf

I emailed Armada a while back about the 185s and the response was:

    >> The ARV 185 weighs exactly 9lbs per pair.

Yes. They're good. I would say just a touch softer than Mantras I tele'd for awhile.

You can find good deals on 05-06 (the purple/blue iceberg/mountain thingy graphic) if you look around online, seen some go really cheap. Never skiied em, just flexed em in a shop and they felt soft but not noodle soft, good construction/feel.

I have the 05-06 185 ARVs that I have been skiing on this year in Tahoe. Picked them up as my mess around powder ski. So, take this for what its worth as I have been skiing on them this year in Tahoe, i.e. no snow. Need way more snow to truly determine if I like them. I am 6'3" 185.

    Initial thoughts:
    - way too soft for me
    - NOT as soft as PR's
    - need to be mounted well back. Mine are -2 but I would have considered further. I have heard from many people that tip dive is a bit of an issue
    - lots of chatter at high speeds

As of now I just feel like I am too big for this ski. It skis like a 175 and is relatively soft. I will probably end up selling mine at seasons end and picking up more of a one ski quiver.

    Exactly.

They are maybe pocket rocket fresh out of the box soft, but are a good bit stiffer than any pr thats had more than a few days on em, and the arvs actually hold their flex. They are also amazingly damp, by far damper than anything with a comparable flex.

I have a pair (which I love for shitty conditions) in a 185, with rossi demo bindings. To whoever was asking about a pair in bozeman, I'd be willing to let someone try them out, provided they take really good fucking care of em.
