    Ant bases...

I checked through the numerous reviews and haven't found anything substantial on how durable Armada Ant bases are. I figure those who have these bad boyz
have now put enough vert on them to give good feedback. So, what's the verdict?

They are durable as hell. In fact, they are the most durable bases I have ever used. I have hit many rocks, trees, ect with them and never gotten a core shot. I can't say how much shit I have hit, its too much to count, but the way I look at it while I am skiing them is I can run down whatever. I took half the ski down a cliff face the other day...nothing.

    Drawbacks?

    Slow as a mother fucker.

Have had no issues with mine, but gramboh has. Edges are thick and burly.

I've also been pretty impressed. I've hit all kinds of stuff and barely scratched 'em.

Mine seem sorta slow, too....but I'd just been writing that off to my wax jobs.

no complaints here, the bases of all armada skis seem to be very durable, my ANTs haven't seen too much abuse but they seem to hit rocks and leave unscratched. My friends who have owned other pairs of Armadas have said similar things about the bases.

Is everyone still high on this stick? Seeing two different people at the "Bird" flying down the mountain with the biggest shit eating grins on their faces is something that I can't get out of my head.

Ive got JPs and ARGs (same bases as ANTs) and have had no problems with durability. Hit a bunch of rocks, especially with the JPs, and all I have are scratches. The downside as said above, they are slow.

The bases are really strong and it does ski well.

Be careful though the armada logo on the base sticks out a mm or so on some of the production skis, especially with the blue logo (I have seen purple versions too). Which needs some leg work to get smooth.

Mount them far enough back and they are great powder skis. Pull the trigger on them and live a little

Yep as shown in that thread I had a problem. I've emailed Armada asking if they have a spare I can buy off em or even if it's warranty issue (Before you jump on me I'm not whining for freebee, I did hit a rock but the damage seems strange/defect based on it being the outside edge and the crack being along the die cut with no core shot/edge damage). Haven't heard back yet. If not i'll try to get em fixed and ski em till they die, got a good deal on em anyway. Love the ski, would buy another pair for sure.

The die cut didn't seem to be sticking out but I can feel the break where the letters are, probably should've had em ground down but I didn't want to spend the cash on a tune upfront as I've never had this problem before.

Other than that the bases are pretty tough.
