Congrats to Danny Romano who after 63 laps was the Last Skier Standing.
well the Jay cloud really overperformed Friday night and the snow was fantastic. On our way up VT state police had the pass on 242 closed between Jay and Montgomery after a coach bus slid off the road; we posted up in the Jet lot waiting for the tow truck and plows to manage the situation, nobody hurt and bus was in tact so all good. I think the storm total was about 9" up high, it was absolutely firing down in town too and must've stacked like 5" between 10p-1am alone.
Toured up the LT first thing Saturday, had the honor and privilege to break trail on the skin track, such a beautiful morning as the sun started to poke out. Hit first tracks off Pumphouse/Green Beret, probably the best turns of the year so far, shin deep pow with no real crust below, very edgeable and smooth, it was awesome.
after skiing down we were in line for the Bonnie by like 8:35 and hit Vertigo to Buck Woods on repeat for the first 3 laps, untouched each time. I somehow found the leg strength to go bell to bell, the snow was just sooo good in the woods.

I’m glad Mrs Bottle was wearing her climbing harness for the final crux up through the bergschrund.
Well, not much for soft snow on this trip, but it was good to see the wife’s family and this entire part of the world again.
Helped to have the two lioness ladies showing me around the place. They can find an edge anywhere.
And by golly, the skiing was still fun!
Hope this season turns around in-time for you all. Maybe one day I’ll happen to time it right with the storms, but it’s always a fun time out East.
Until next time.
Nice pix Jenks, next time it's going to line up.

Vermonters like to point to their schools and claim the high ground...I propose that the schools in Manchester (NH), Concord, and even Nashua are far souperior [pun intended] to Burlington or Rutland or Barre.
Vermont has the 3rd highest spending per student in the country yet rarely cracks the top 10 in performance.
That money is wasted. My kids went to school in NY (Upstates AF) and the difference in quality was easily recognizable. You get way more bang for your school tax buck in places like NY, CT, MA, and NJ. The problem is too many school districts with huge overhead costs but the NIMBYs won't even discusss consolidation.
Goddamnit, it needs to snow.

NIMBY isn't quite the right word. I've watched a few consolidation fights play out in really small towns in VT. It was always about control and lor ong running feuds between individuals or families. The smaller school in a merger usually ends up bitter that they don't have as much say in things because they have fewer students. It also often has sticker shock for the smaller town for a number of reasons. Belvedere and Waterville was a perfect example for all of the above reasons. I still wouldn't live or especially raise kids in NH. And definitely not Manchester. The same goes for Barre and Rutland. I raised my kids in Saint Albans City. I would have rather sent them to town school, especially as things changed over time. BFA was alright. Everyone wants their kids to go to CVUHS these days. It didn't seem that special 35-40 years ago.
What are everyone’s feelings about abortion, religion and politics? Seems like a good time to ask
