If you're talking about ski resorts that are in the actual tropics, then no. Pretty sure that doesn't exist. I don't know of any ski lifts in the tropics at all, much less ones that are within a short drive of the beach.

Edit: I looked it up and I take it back. There's a ski area outside of La Paz, Bolivia at 17,000 feet that's technically within the tropics. It's about 9 hours from the beach though. Unless you count the shores of Lake Titicaca as a tropical beach.

Greece has a lot of ski areas.

Not sure of the winter beach temps though.

It's not, but for the purposes of this discussion I'm guessing the requirements are a sandy beach and warmish water. Let's say above 22 degrees C or 72 F. Even that's a bit chilly, but I doubt anything would qualify if water warmer than that is needed.

Mt Etna… skied there all the time when I was stationed in Sicily. Got snow on top year-round. I’d be sweating my ass off on that fucking runway in 110° heat looking up at that fucking snow and just wishing I was there.

ya could make it to lift served in ‘bout an hour and twenty from my beach house…

Any west coaster can go to the beach and ski within a few hours. I’m talking swimmable warm water.

Is there a volcanic peak in Mexico with ski lifts?

end of june /early july there could be 400 cm of base up there and if its sunny you could go in the water

but really the whole pow resort thing is pretty bogus unless you are actulay able to be there for pow

the only place I can think of is rogers pass I remember the parks employee talking about dribs & drabs being 20cm but then you gotta self propel

Yea, you could go in the water but let’s be honest, it’s cold as shit and sucks ass.

Unless you’re an 8 year old or we have some ridiculous heat wave nobody is enjoying a swim in the Salish Sea (The AD excluded)

Russia probably isn't going to have much for skiing crowds for the new few decades... Have you thought of retiring to Sochi? https://www.discoverrosa.com/en

Isola 2000 in the Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur is 1.5 hours drive from Nice.
A number of them just over the IT border like Cuneo as well.

There's a slew of little ski areas around there. March is supposed to be the month for ski then beach.

Wide selection of affordable houses too: https://www.properstar.com/france/rimplas/buy/house

    Point of order.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

There was a day in 2009 when I skied powder in the morning at Alpental and then flew to Hawaii and swam in the ocean (daytime). Pretty amazing day other than the 5hr flight.

Water too cold and want palm trees, just keep heading north. Real estate prices make Southern France look like Aspen.

Ecuador would work nicely as well.

That shit's even too cold for me. There are people who swim in the Sound year-round without wetsuits, but I think they've got a screw loose. Anything under 60 is damn cold. Anything under 50 is fucking insanity.

    Granada, Spain.

About 25 miles to the Sierra Nevada ski resort and 40 miles to the Costa Tropical.

You should see all the Winter surfers we have in Maine. Water can dip down into the upper 30’s. I used to dive year round in a wetsuit because the buoyancy of a dry suit working under boats was problematic. That first shot of cold water down the back woke you up

I had no idea there was lift served skiing on Mt Etna. That's pretty cool.

I don't think so. Too many people. The gear is too easy to ride pow with. The season is shortening and the snow lines are raising in elevation.

May I suggest a time machine? if you want prime conditions with no people, skiing isn't a great sport for you. May I suggest the solitude of surfing... doh! nevermind.

Good work. Who wouldn't want to plant a pole in that after a day on the slopes?

This looks very avalanche prone. You definitely want to tighten up on the Croakies on that one.

What about the great lakes surfers? Waves are best/most reliable in the winter...
