If you're talking about ski resorts that are in the actual tropics, then no. Pretty sure that doesn't exist. I don't know of any ski lifts in the tropics at all, much less ones that are within a short drive of the beach.

Edit: I looked it up and I take it back. There's a ski area outside of La Paz, Bolivia at 17,000 feet that's technically within the tropics. It's about 9 hours from the beach though. Unless you count the shores of Lake Titicaca as a tropical beach.

It's not, but for the purposes of this discussion I'm guessing the requirements are a sandy beach and warmish water. Let's say above 22 degrees C or 72 F. Even that's a bit chilly, but I doubt anything would qualify if water warmer than that is needed.

Mt Etna… skied there all the time when I was stationed in Sicily. Got snow on top year-round. I’d be sweating my ass off on that fucking runway in 110° heat looking up at that fucking snow and just wishing I was there.

Any west coaster can go to the beach and ski within a few hours. I’m talking swimmable warm water.

end of june /early july there could be 400 cm of base up there and if its sunny you could go in the water

but really the whole pow resort thing is pretty bogus unless you are actulay able to be there for pow

the only place I can think of is rogers pass I remember the parks employee talking about dribs & drabs being 20cm but then you gotta self propel

Unless you’re an 8 year old or we have some ridiculous heat wave nobody is enjoying a swim in the Salish Sea (The AD excluded)

Isola 2000 in the Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur is 1.5 hours drive from Nice.
A number of them just over the IT border like Cuneo as well.

There's a slew of little ski areas around there. March is supposed to be the month for ski then beach.

There was a day in 2009 when I skied powder in the morning at Alpental and then flew to Hawaii and swam in the ocean (daytime). Pretty amazing day other than the 5hr flight.

That shit's even too cold for me. There are people who swim in the Sound year-round without wetsuits, but I think they've got a screw loose. Anything under 60 is damn cold. Anything under 50 is fucking insanity.

You should see all the Winter surfers we have in Maine. Water can dip down into the upper 30’s. I used to dive year round in a wetsuit because the buoyancy of a dry suit working under boats was problematic. That first shot of cold water down the back woke you up
