Eastcoast Roll Call TwoTwo/TwoThree A Slow Start to a Big Finish

Sugarloaf was awesome this weekend, first time for me up there. We had to wait in short lift lines a few times but it was generally not crowded at all. the pow on Saturday was insane, our legs were screamin' by the end of the day but we just couldn't stop it was so good. They ran the groomers overnight and we got out for a little morning tour; extra 2" of fluff on top was the icing on the cake; I think I saw storm totals of 32" in 48 hours, it barely stopped the whole time we were there. Stellar conditions Sunday morning, the groomers were firing and we took a few dips into the woods to poke around on some low angle stuff. Hit up the Rack for apres on Saturday, that's a really cool bar. All in all great trip to the Loaf; skiing is fun.

Was at the Loaf on Saturday as well, skiing was really good. Never seen such an access road shit show in my life. At one point I was behind two groomers on the road.

Agreed, the access road was an absolute gong show took us like half an hour just to get up the hill to Lot E; lotta people without snow tires spinnin' and slidin' all over the place, heard a few of the shuttle busses even got bogged down for a bit too

Not good enough. I only eat organic, fair trade, non-GMO, cage free, grass fed, gluten free Speghetti-os.

Quick note on Stratton. Seems they have a new management and/or patrol philosophy as there was a ton of terrain open, ungroomed, powder stashes with water bars and twigs and rocks showing through. I mean a solid impression of Magic. The 3-4” squall from yesterday afternoon helped but there were still hits from the Friday storm. Sun Bowl completely ungroomed, Liftline, Slalom Glade/World Cup, Dino’s (first time down ever).

But of course, there was also the guy - 20’s or 30’s so a grown man - in a full body Unicorn suit. If that weren’t bad enough, he failed in loading Ursa and slid off. Had to stop the lift, walk back, etc. Your can’t make this up.

Of course I left my phone home so no picks of pow or unicorns…..

Skiing is fun, and right now really good. Thursday is last day like this for a bit unless the back side of the Grinch storm overdelivers. Always hope…….

I figured you might have been there today. You're right, it was off the charts good. Our first run was Kidderbrook. So much fresh snow with a little windcrust to keep you on your toes. Slalom Glade to World Cup was our run of the day. Lower Slalom Glade essentially untouched since the storm. World Cup looked like the old days on Magician before the Abie.

Anybody ever gone to The Wild Fern. That place is like a step back into the 70s, such a cool vibe and it is right around the corner from our ski club lodge. I haven't been there since COVID and i think they changed it up a bit. It used to be BYOB and put some cash in the tip jar and only open a few hours Friday and Saturday night and Sunday morning. Usually only 1 or 2 items on the menu in a converted trailer home, but the acoustics were great in such a tiny place.

Yeah I dunno about the organic spaghetti o's but Field Guide has adopted a house band that has been playing around for a few years, and they are fantastic. CFI (chicken fat injection), funk/jazz horns, Maceo Parker type stuff. Pro musicians, not a dad band. Highly recommended. I think they are playing there every friday or saturday throughout the winter. (sample here)

I we buy these in bulk (that pepper shaker is AMAZING) and emblazon them with stickers made from the meme on the last page ..... we can all retire and ski every day!
