Cannon still closed. No snow in my yard in Franconia. Drove over to SRiver and there is solid coverage of refrozen styrofoam everywhere and where they made snow and groomed it was grippy. Totally worth the hour each way.
And first day on the new Jordan 8. The bubble is red so when you open it everything is glowing blue [emoji838]
Also I was surprised the place was totally empty.

Ditto. Racestock is the only answer.

No, there are plenty of answers. RaceStock is just the only *correct* one.
Last time I went in, though, you needed to plan a lot more than a week ahead to get an appointment.

Why would you want any answer other than the correct one??
Lots of options, true. I would go to PJ.

Any words of wisdom for a family of four going to quebec city winter carnaval for the first couple of days of the festivus? We will luckily have a college age friend coming with to help with the kids too.so perhaps suggestions for nighttime activities sans rugrats?

We went with our then high school aged kids several years ago. It is a freakin' blast. Enjoy the ice castle (and ice bars), parades, and toboggan track. Lots of night time events so make sure the kids get a nap before heading out in the evening.
We love XC skiing on the Plains of Abraham, but MSA has an incredible network. Apparently MSA alpine is closed, so you may be able to bring skins and earn turns (ask around first as I can't confirm this).
Hopefully you have a hotel in the Old City. If you get out for a nice meal, the Bistro Boreal is pretty great.
Consider staying at the Frontenac (sp?) c’est formidable. You’ll have a blast. So will the kids

I had to look up the Carnaval dates and learned this is the 69th year they've done it.

"If the road You followed brought you to this,of what use was the road"?
"I have no idea what I am talking about but would be happy to share my biased opinions as fact on the matter. "
Ottime
We toured it and found the common areas are pretty great (a little stuffy though) but the rooms were dated. We’ve had that experience staying at Trapps and the Mt Wash hotel too. The Frontenac seems like the kind of hotel that folks with money stay at because it’s the “fanciest” hotel in town. Tromping through in sweaty ski clothes is likely to get you some sideways looks.
There are lots of boutique and pocket hotels in the Old City that are incredibly affordable and comfortable for a family of skiers to stay at.
edit - I just checked the Front. website and it appears that the rooms shown are more updated than when we were last there. That being said, they are 2x+ more expensive than where we have stayed in the past.
Just remembered - if you are going with kids I think there are a couple (more than) decent places to ice skate in QC. If you own some you might as well throw them in the car. Didn't have shit like this in NYC:
Patinoire Place d'Youville
Parc de la Pointe-aux-Lièvres

Took a little chance, hitting Little Big Mac. They aren't super rigorous about reporting snowfall, and they only had three trails listed open.
Watched the radar over the weekend and thought they might have something new. Very few ropes anywhere (maybe 70% "open"), it was a great day on low angle pow.
Early Adk start
Great day.
