When we built our local bike park, we got something like 100 yards of heavily-clay soil donated from some locals who were tearing out the horse race track on their property. It was a one mile oval…

Worked great for the jump lines

Redfin price history indicates That place has been on and off the market for 21 years (maybe more)

All that carpet is a big turn-off.

The chronology in the price history is all out of whack, what's that mean?

Interesting hippie palace. It’s a bit out there, but impeccably done.
    On 702 acres.

Pic 55, the mechanical room, work looks like it was done with pride in workmanship, except for some recent hoses with black pipe insulation that look like they were just throw in with total disregard to the rest of the layout.

Note the irregularly shaped trapezoidal duct/shrouds on the RH side of the pic, on top of the two air handlers. Very few HVAC sheet-metal shops are capable of or would do work like this (Mid Atlantic region), and the seams are sealed with mastic. Very nice work.

That Ashland place is wild. The the wood flooring around the staircase is incredible.

Nearly 10k sqft of interior space and 2 bedrooms, 3.5 baths? 2 garage spaces. Wtf?

Looks like they have been trying to sell it since 2010. Listing, then pulling over and over.

Kind of incredible because every single blade of grass, piece of carpet, wiring, door knob, everything is chosen specifically for that purpose. It’s kind of cool and all but that means it’s that person’s singular choice (which is basically nobody else’s choice). It’s like they said I just want this crap and I don’t care if I ever have to sell it. I like the guest house, though.

Seems like they would be better off using it as a venue for weddings and other events.

It’s just commercial style work…. Uncommon in a home sure but any high school gym or McDonalds would have Sq to Sq offset transitions like that. I’m sure price and spec made the job attractive to some local commercial HVAC outfit….

They originally listed this place for $25 mil back in '15, reduced it to ~ $19 MM, then took it off the market. Spectacular site, you can see this place for many miles. I go by it on the water all the time. It's on the site of a WW2 Coastal Defense artillery battery, they didn't need to build a foundation, the government did that back then and it's plenty solid. 10 acres direct waterfront, the listing says 1500 feet of shore but I think they're selling it short on that.
