You got it. I pains me to think of switching to iOS myself when the time comes but Google's forcing our hands with their giant ass phones. SO annoying! They really should follow Apple's lead on this one and come out with a Pixel Mini/Nano/Micro or whatever they want to call it. I just can't bring myself to go any larger than my Pixel 3. Sucks because even all these years later, this phone is really so darn good. Glad I got it. Solid run for a piece of fast changing tech. Thanks for the recommendation, TGR!

I'm upgrading my Pixel 3 and trying to decide between the base Samsung S22 or iPhone 13pro. Mostly want a smaller device with good camera and decent battery. I'd prefer to stay android as the whole fam is on android and we are heavily vested in google photos. The battery reviews aren't great for the s22, though.

Any on an S22 and care to comment on battery life while using GPS? Can do you do 4 hour strava session?
I've got a base S22. Battery life is ok. Certainly not impressive, but not frustratingly bad either. Turning off the extra high refresh rate for the screen made a noticeable improvement on battery life, and I'm not playing games on my phone so I don't really notice the difference. I haven't done any long strava sessions with it, but so far I haven't seen anything that would indicate that it'd be a problem.

Camera is noticeably better on it than my old S8. Android 12 is occasionally annoying. Mostly I dislike the new Google widgets. But all in all, the phone doesn't feel that much different than my old Android - it's just a bit faster, works a bit smoother, etc.

I almost went for the Iphone 13. Decided against it because a lack of finger print unlock, stupid iphone notification display, and a general resistance to apple products because everything's proprietary and non-customizable. But the general consensus seems to be that it's a better phone; apps run smoother, battery lasts longer, camera looks better, etc.

Yeah, outside of a battery that sucks now, I still like my Pixel 3. Trying to decide if I just keep charging it regularly or spring for a battery replacement, because I see no reason to get a new phone.

My advice: Don't go to bb to test out new phones. I was planning to give my P3 to my son for his birthday this month. Found out that he can get a free s21FE when we add a line - so don't actually *need* to upgrade. But hard to back down now.

I have a Pixel 3 as well and visited Verizon's store earlier today because they seem to be running a good deal for a new Pixel. I've got battery swell right now though my phone is still working well. The ordered a new Pixel 6 Pro and once they get them the will get back to me to see what kind of deal I can get. If the deal is good enough for me I'll have the Pixel 6 pro later this week.

I want the pro because I want a better camera.

This is great info - Thank you. I'm fairly certain the S22 would be fine and certainly an upgrade over my P3 battery. With my P3 I record 6-7 hours skiing so should be fine on the s22.

For the money, the i13 seems like the better bet. I think I can get used to the iOS UI - its the cord that is really effing with me. My whole fam is on pixels and we do a ton of weekend trips. The thought of needing to pack another cord is just unbearable - keep trying to tell myself this is a stupid hangup.

Certainly not trying to dissuade you, but have you picked one up? If you like to use your phone one handed its impossible. Amazing camera, but I was really surprised at how uncomfortable it felt in my hand (with no case). If you don't care about 1 handed then it'd be good.

I have a 6 pro and I generally love it. It is large - no doubt about that - but I've gotten used to it and the camera is just phenomenal. Blows everything else out of the water.

Same here. The only time I hate it is when it's in my pocket.

Otherwise, it's better in every way than the series of oneplusses it replaced. The camera is competitive with my wife's iPhone 12P (but I'd give the win to apple on that) and the call quality is better.

another plug for the pixel 6 pro. I've had mine a couple of months now, and it is kickass. Does everything well, and the camera is awesome. We did a comparo with the wife's apple 12 pro, and the camera is easily superior in the p6p.

I got the 6 instead of the pro for the size, for sure. The camera on the 6 is pretty incredible as well.

Do you guys with the P6/P6P have a man purse? Seriously, does it fit in your jeans/shorts pocket?

Yeah. Maybe if you're wearing those old JNCO's from the 90s

I wear carhartts or carhartt clones everyday, and yes no problem. It's my jacket pockets where it's annoying.

FWIW, Verizon is offering me $19/mo for the 3-4yr old iPhone XR that I got wet on vacation last week. The XR will still power on, but the touch screen is done, and I'm pretty sure the logic board is toast as well because it wouldn't recognize the SIM card. Once I factory reset the XR, I can apparently bring it back to VZN, and they'll start crediting my account.

I'm assuming this is due to supply chain issues, but seems like a pretty decent deal if you're upgrading.

They are offering me $350 for my super old Galaxy S6 that's been sitting in a drawer for 3-4 years. But, you do have to lock in for 3 years.

I have a pixel 4xl which is pretty much the same size and yes, fits in the jeans just fine.

That's what I did. Been on Verizon since I got my first cellphone, so locking in wasn't a big deal.

But of course someone in the transaction screwed something up, so I had to spend a couple hours on the phone to get the rebate sorted out. It was a non-optimal experience.

ATT didn't offer shit, in fact, they jacked the retaiil price up by $150. I found a mint one unlocked for $450 (P6).

ATT treats potential/new customers way better than existing. Bought mine directly from google with an op8 trade-in, and switched from T-mo to ATT for a $250 credit over the first 10 bills. That was a significantly better deal than buying it through my wife's existing ATT acct.

Tell me about it. I've been on the phone with Verizon for about 15-16 hours total the last two weeks trying to sort this out. Trying to add a line and update a phone. Seems pretty simple but they make it really hard.

FYI - For those of you staying on the Pixel3, they are done with the security updates. You should probably install LineageOS.

Looks like my wife needs a new phone more than me, she's getting the Pixel 6 Pro and I'll be staying on my Pixel3 for a while. I'm happy someone in the fam will have that camera.

Pixel 3a here as the Fi phone my wife grabs when we go to Canada. Hopefully Fi will update phones using their service past the end date.
