Seems like we either write Ukraine off, or risk calling a potential non-bluff; are there worse things than (radioactive) death?

Exactly. Troops are told they are to take the reactor facility and end up possibly blowing it up.

The combination of personnel incompetence and tech failures is so pervasive I have to wonder if it is intentional, or…?

How does one deal with a madman with a defective gun? Come on US, you really should have this

    J/k. Sort of.

    Fuck Pootin.

I hate war and death, but here's the thing. If Putin wins this, he won't stop at Ukraine. Anybody else remember their European history? So why don't you guys just hang out and watch as history repeats itself. First Germany took one little country and we watched. And they took another and we watched. So on and so forth until we were dealing with what we did.

Let's not repeat those mistakes. Nobody's suggesting we go into Russia to exact revenge. The world is just saying that Putin needs to GTFO of Ukraine. Not that much to ask. It will take force, tho.

It's pretty early days to be advocating joining the fight. The war's only been going on a week and steps that have been taken already may work. And further steps short of fighting are still available. It's not cowardly to try to be smart and keep our kids alive. Not to mention that one escalation could easily beget another.

Not meant specifically as a gotcha, but what did you say about Syria since around 2012? Or about Russia occupying Crimea, Lukhansk and Donetsk for the last 8 years?

Edit for typo. Plus South Ossetia.

Thing is, Lord Pootin led off with his cannon fodder troops and old gear.

He's also willing to accept a lot of casualties in his shitbird Imperial spear tip, since this is simply the opening campaign of a much larger geopolitical strategy [that history may well call WWIII]. Civilian casualties are as grains of Holodomor wheat to Lord Pootin.

Lord Pootin's legions are executing standard Orc Army doctrine here of setting up marshalling areas from which they reassess and move forward with a package tailored for the next advance... and seem close to their timetable.

They're going to level Kiyv, and make an example of what was once a great center of learning and the heart of a thriving European democracy. And Benny helped.

Lord Pootin's legions will not stop there, only pause perhaps. Any Eastern or Northern European country that isn't NATO is on the menu now that Europe has specified the terms under which it will act in a united manner.

It seems like Putin doesn’t give a shit whether Ukraine remains intact. He just wants a buffer; whether it’s a dead no-mans-land or a country ruled in submission, he doesn’t care.

If they feel it's on their hearts to go do their part to fight for our country and its allies, that's entirely their choice. I'd be proud.

If this escalates significantly, what makes you think the draft might not be reinstated? Would you support your children being *unwillingly* sent to this fight?

You should sign up and go. It’s been a week, not even enough time for the sanctions to have an effect, but you go full retard. Maybe there’s a plan that your brilliant mind hasn’t figured out. Patience is a virtue.

Our best hope lies in the Russian people. They ended the Cold War and they will need to end this war again.

People are marching in the streets and more join every day.

Calm down, son. Putin has less than 20% the population of the US and the EU combined, and a GDP smaller than Texas. This isn't Darth Vader. Or even Hitler. The Germans were way more prepared for war in 1939 than Russia is today. And there's absolutely no fucking way Putin expected to find himself in the position he's in. He's in deep shit with no good way out.

With that said, he'll probably consolidate control of Ukraine before too long. For the sake of civilian casualties that would probably be good, plus it saves the UA military for counterstrikes, where they can be surgical and effective.

When this fight ends is when it really starts.

    Ukraine

Watching a fight between two crazy mother fuckers who both are willing to die usually doesn’t end well. And being in the crowd cheering, taking pics, yelling “world star” it doesn’t end well for anyone.

All those nuke reactors are a serious concern.

Funny, because on the day Ron declantis shat on France, France detained a bunch of legionnaires for running to the war

    On a more human level,
Thousands of people in Berlin have gone to the central train station to offer fleeing Ukrainians a place to stay. Really moving

    https://mobile.twitter.com/marceldir...bf101d238e%2F0

Berliners did this for fleeing Syrians when that shitstorm started as well
